If you have a beach facing the open sea and no reinforced concrete defenses or closed bay areas it will be washed away through the basic motions of water. Building on open coasts may seem nice and get 6-7 figure property prices but they will be facing the full brunt of wind and rain from the sea.

Raised sea defences work but are not going to stop storms urges but at least you won't have the sea entering your 100k patio area as you'd be 20+ft off the sea level.

I know you just moved to florida brah but seriously, any real floridian knows that development is what is causing the beach damage during storms. If we had a solid shoreline with at least 100-500 yards of dunes, damage would be marginalized, but guess what, mounds of sand doesnt make $$$ for developers and insurance companies

NO wind and flooding damage plays a major factor but most of the damage from THIS storm was COASTAL and the reason for that was explained above which you obviously agree with since you don't have a rebuttle and thats fine because it is a major issue but you northerners are part of the problem since you demand to live 20 feet away from the water then cry like biches when your house falls into the ocean.
