From what I could see there are a few layouts of Avlon apartments, some without a balcony so I ignored those... From the pictures in the article you can see a balcony that seems to extend into a room with sofas and a coffee table which I take to be the 'great room' on that floor plan

Some apartments have those locks where you have to twist 2 things to open them, or you need a key or something even from inside, if he was to carry/drag her towards that door but then have to release her (even with just one hand) to work the doorlocks she could have easily grabbed a knife or a rolling pin and attacked him from behind. She'd already thrown rocks at him, and from my memory of some audio that got posted here she had just hit him with that telescope looking thing and he can be heard saying something along the lines of "knocking people out doesn't work like it does in movies" cos she hadn't hit him hard enough.

If the balcony was already open, which isn't unreasonable to expect since it happened during August in Australia, which is fcking hot still even at night... I'd have chosen to put her out there too. Not like you'd expect her to jump to her death, I'd have put her out there to calm down and then called the Police if she'd just hit me that hard over the head after wrecking my apartment and trying to steal my things.

because it's the long, indirect, and stupid way to do it. plus, it's literally keeping someone hostage on your property, when they want to leave, which is beyond fcked.
a person in their right mind would take the direct route and kick someone out of their front door if they're acting a fool. i don't [and won't] understand how this adult couldn't comprehend that. guess now he's paying for it, tho...

From what I can piece together:

They were both loaded
She goes to his place and starts acting like an idiot, throwing schit around and causing chaos
He tells her to quit her schit, gets pissed, says some heated stuff
He locks her on his balcony cuz she's acting crazy
Girl feels like, instead of waiting, she needs to crawl off the balcony off the 14th floor. This is a good idea.
It's all his fault 100%, he's a killer.

No matter how many heated arguments myself and my girl have had, myself and my friends have had, not one of us would ever even contemplate trying to escape the 14th floor of a building by scaling its face, no matter how much I felt 'threatened.'

i think it started cus she was getting rough with hookup like biting him and **** and he didnt like it and they got into an argument that escalated from there

and yes, all the supporters are missing the fact that right before shes locked out she has completely broken down and is literally pleading to leave, not to say one side is definitely going to win but in the US a decent lawyer would argue that balconybrah went way past his legal right in continuing to situation when he states 'i would but youve been a bad girl,' their confrontation had ended, he continued it. he did not need to detain her there, tell her he was keeping her things etc, if calling the police was his goal.

There was a lot of reasons to suspect Tostee actually committed the murder because his response to the whole thing was very strange. My vote would be on innocent, he's not guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by any means at all

Yeah it's fcked up what he did right after, but when you're drunk and a girl just pencil dived off your balcony you might not be thinking the clearest. The adrenalin of that happening my heart would be beating out of my chest I'm not about to call the cops first I'd be scared as fuk in that situation... 14 floors up she's dead, can't even say he should have called an ambulance she's gone from that height
