Catching high IV mons has really become impossible too. If I even get something over 70 it's a miracle...98/100 that I catch are in the 60's or lower.
Same here. I've basically given up on wild catches being anything good. Caught an 824 grimer yesterday with terrible IVs. Gonna evolvebhim anyway since it'll be the only muk I'll ever get.

Agreed. I'd imagine they'll leave this alone until someone comes up with a work around. Don't think people realize ''tis but every work around we have ever had, hey tried their best to disable and then make their own in an update.

Luckily, the people for fastpokemap may have it up and running by this weekend. Keep your fingers crossed folks.

Yeah I mean I'm not expecting 1/5 of catches to be 90's...but seriously 9 out of 10 friggin catches appraise starts with "Overall...blah blah blah has room for improvement as far as battling goes" (ie < 50 IV). I mean ...even getting a fair amount of 60-80 IVs shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Oh man I hope so...had a Golem spawn near my house earlier this week and ran all around the neighborhood trying to find him, to no avail. Oh well...probably would have been IV 37 CP 188 anyway

I try to keep at least one of all the top evolutions in hopes that they're somewhat useful in the future

I'm fairly confident they'll add a way to train moves in the future. It would be a huge element and another way to pull dust, candy or coins out of the game

i see nothing but Mystic where I live too. I think me, and the guys I specifically play with are the only Valor that still play. Most of the valor people I think were the casuals that quit by now, and instinct just never had the numbers to begin with.
Would be nice to be able to change teams once every few months or something. Would probably add more to the balance if people could switch around. Ive been in so many top tier gyms as Valor only to have them knocked down within a day. Im talking Level 10 gyms starting at 2200 CP. Meanwhile Mystic has like 7 gyms within a square mile that no one touches.

Instinct seems to have very few players but the ones that do play are hardcore. Theres one yellow gym near my house (south phila) that is always yellow with crazy CP mons. Group of like 12 people constantly raising it up, gotta give them credit. I dont even try and take it down anymore cause 6 2500 snorlaxes will be back within half a day

make sure your location accuracy is good, and dont start fighting until your player is not wandering anymore

That's how it is around here. We have a local Instinct ******** group where we coordinate gym takeover and defense. We let Mystic keep their special gyms, but if they try to take over our territory, we kick them out immediately. They get tired of wasting time on our focus gyms, and leave them alone. Valor gyms we take over on sight.

Yeah starting to regret being Valor. None of my friends play seriously though so just me and my gf when she tags along trying to take over gyms. Usually can find like 2 in the ghetto that can stay a few days and then take over 2 a day, so usually netting around 4.

For first month and half the game was fcking amazing. Had so much fun and some good memories.

I now have 142 on pokedex and 20 dragonites. So game is boring now until gen2 Pokemon is released.

I'm not a huge Pokemon fan but grew up with first gen. Also a long time ingress player.

Anyone know the cool down time when you get a gym error? The game has been kicking me out lately and not letting me back in even when positioning myself right under the gym. I've noticed it'll let me back in when prestiging but not when I'm trying to take a gym. Kinda pisses me of as there were a few gyms I wanted to take today that were fairly new and easy.

I know a lot of us hit on this earlier, but does it seem like when you're Pokmon grinding , the game shorts you balls but when you're gym grinding, it tends to short you potions. It's evident they nerfed the max and hyper potions. With all that being said, this was sent to Niantic by the creator of fastpokemap
With the new API about to be fully reversed (It's still not done but shouldn't be much longer, definitely this week-end), there are a few points I'd like to discuss about the recent changes made by Niantic.

I understand about a company trying to keep the integrity of its game. As long as it doesn't hurt their userbase that is.
Niantic has made pretty terrible choices lately and I believe they're self-sabotaging the game on purpose to try to to "control" the growth of their game.

For me, the tracking isn't the biggest issue with Pokemon GO, it's all the security measures Niantic is taking in trying to stop people from tinkering with their codebase which in turn hurts the real users.

Has anyone noticed how battery hungry the game has become after the 0.37.0 patch? How sluggish the game feels since 0.37? How the game doesn't run on some phone brands anymore unless you do advanced manipulations?

Those are all measures they implemented to try to stop us, reverse engineers, from trying to understand their game protocol and logic.

Let's tackle the first issue, battery usage increase due to their obfuscation.

Prior to 0.37, to do 1+1, the only issued "command" was 1+1 (simplifying, this isn't how arm assembly works) , it was a single cpu cycle. Right now, to try to hide the real 1+1 from us, they do lots of random operation such as 5*39, 45/9.45, 1+1 , etc etc, which add a lot of cpu cycle aka battery usage + lag.

This is why reversing the API has taken a long time this time around, this obfuscation adds lots of bogus code flow and instructions that are useless for the end result, they're just here to slow us down from trying to understanding the code. In the long run it doesn't stop us. But it stops older model phone from running the game smoothly because what was once a game that ran on almost most android 4.4+ is now a game that can be run smoothly on only 600+ devices.

The second issue is SafetyNet which in my opinion is Niantic/Google's dumbest business decision. SafetyNet is like GameGuard for Android. It stops root and modified kernel from running the game. Side effect: Most chinese brand, blackberry are blocked without even being rooted.
The android ecosystem is dev friendly and encoruages rooting as well. Cheaters don't need root to cheat. Reverse engineers can bypass safetynet easily to deobufscate & reverse engineer the code. Once again this security measure doesn't stop us but it stops legit users from playing.

SafetyNet was meant as a measure to make Android Pay run only on trusted environment. It wasn't meant as an Anti Cheat system.

Now this is my message to Niantic: Keep obfuscating if you don't care about performance issue on your game, keep using SafetyNet if you want to block 5-6% of android phones.

But don't be surprised if your userbase is tanking and don't be surprised about the huge backslash from the community.

Don't be another Hello Game. Listen to your community and open the api. You can still save Pokemon GO.

We'll keep reversing your game as long as your game is popular.
FastPokeMap will continue to come back no matter how hard you try to kill it.
But if you keep trying to kill it don't be surprised if soon there won't be anyone playing your game anymore.

The hotspot in my area used to have 300-400 people playing. Since all your changes + changing the api there are only 3-4people playing.
The game is dying and it is all because of your poor choice to try to fight the wishes of your community.

This is where you show off your true colors:. Are you making the game mostly for profits or for your community?

Its around 15-20 minutes. Make sure your player is not moving around at all before you enter a gym battle. Then make sure you dont move directions or spin or anything while playing.

And it does happen when prestiging, was taking a fym from 40000 to 49000 and then i got booted. Ended up waiting 15 mins to get the last 1K. Next day mystic took it down lulz

Nice mayne, I still have yet to get a good IV and high CP dratini to evolve. Not gonna spend all my dust getting a 200 dratini to gym status, Ill just keep waiting.

Played a few hours at a local historic park today. Ended up getting to level 28 without using my evolves. I know its poverty for thius thrread, but dont spend that much time playing with school and havent spent any real $$$ yet. Hoping to hit 30 before christmas.

Also got an 880 growlithe i evoled into a 2K Arcanine, my first one. IV was piss but didnt feel like waiting anymore. Happy he didnt get bulldoze too. Overall not a terrible day.

New iPhone update eh?

"Minor fixes"

inb4 3 weeks before another stupid ass update

Edit: they also need to make getting lures easier. Maybe 1 per level? I used to see areas all over lit up. The most "popular" spot has had 2/5 lures lit at max for the past week.

Game is dying off rapidly. Used to see crowds of people playing, events with 200+ people - now it's usually 5 people that leave after their two lures end.

After they killed pokemap a ton of "hardcore" players quit because they couldn't find anything worthwhile. No point in playing a game that requires you to walk everywhere (since we still can't run or bike without missing out on the distance) if you're just walking aimlessly..
PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way.
GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it.
PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what?
GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise.
PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad.
GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.

A lot due to school starting anf weather but still, if they think this wilk last through winter while still no tracking they are in for a surprise. Killing their own game

Alright, now that radar maps are down, there is something I would like to try. Some of you might judge, but I don't care. Could someone share with me a working GPS spoofer for Pokemon Go, on Android? You can have my measly reps. I'm quite a tech idiot, so a quick guide would be great. Thanks.

I think every single gym I fight is the same lol.

every single one over half of the gym is filled with Exeggutors, then theres 1-2 Snorlaxes. maybe a Dragonite or Vaporeon thrown in there.

does anyone even power up anyone different?

of course theres the noobs that throw dogshyt in the gyms, but it's extremely rare that i see a player put a serious poke (1500+) in there thats not one of those 4.

I use poliwrath, slowbro, venasaur and blastoise. They're all over 2k but even then they're at the lower end of the gym. The reason people use the usual so much is they have high cp, high stamina, and high attacks, plus a lot of time they're tanks as well. Cp positioning is the only thing to worry about in gyms right now. Hopefully they change this soon.

Looks like Niantic has disabled the sightings/nearby while you're going over 30 mph. This, of course, stops Pokmon from spawning until you slow down and ping another server nearby. For all you bus riders and passengers, definitely a big fuk you from niantic.

Slowbro is underrated for gym defense, decent moves, CP, HP, etc. I powered up my Venusaur cause he was 100% and my favorite childhood pokemon. Actually working well cause hes in a low level gym for a while now.

Not exactly gonna use it for cheating per se, but to test out something. If I wanted a GPS spoof to cheat, I won't had waited till radar maps are down, would I? Nonetheless, I am aware that using GPS spoofs for whatever reason is cheating, I apologize if it doesn't sits well with you guys. Chill out, peace out, enjoy Pokemon Go and your weekend.

Agreed about slowbro. One with ice beam is definitely good when someone. Rings a grass Pokmon out to defeat it. Vine whip/solar ram venasaur is the ****!

I think where Niantic messed up was releasing the game the way it was. Once they realized people were progressing a lot quicker than they should've, certain Pokmon nest made certain players almost unstoppable, and people actually
Communicating and finding ways around their programming, they were forced to change things and take away from the gameplay. Those that are just starting don't mind because that's all they're used to but to all of us who started when the game came Out are horribly disappointed. Guess we will see if any of their updates actually become worth a damn. They e mostly been lackluster and seems to inhibit most of the hardcore players from progressing. Think we will be getting some pogo+ today to help catch the easier stuff.

I do agree. They need to figure out a system where people can still interact with gyms, get dust and coins, etc without having to be in the gym. This is the biggest problem imo. Theres a set number of gyms, a small amount actually, and only 10 spots. So more people are playing yet only a few can really interact well enough toi benefit from it. While a select few reap all the rewards.

In philly half the gyms are level 10, most mystic. The same 10 players will be in the same close level 10 gyms. This leaves everyone else **** outta luck. Meanwhile top players getting 35K dust a week just sitting there and everyone else struggles to get that amount from catching alone.

So IMO it isnt the trackers or even the high level pokemon or fast progression that ruins the game, its the way the multiplayer is set up. Compare this to Clash of Clans which is probably the next most popular game, and people at any level can play for the same amount of time, even in clan wars, and still participate and benefit. PoGo needs to come up with some type of system, even if it is just making more gyms and decreasing the return on each one.

I'd agree with making more gyms to an extent. Part of the competitive nature of the gym battling aspect is having high cp Pokmon and strategizing ways to take down enemy gyms and fill your gym and maintain it enough to gather coins. Adding more gyms will either A) increase the amount the gyms the high level trainers already have or B) allow others to battle over the extra gyms. If an area if mainly mystic, those gyms are going to become mystic. I was thinking of maybe them randomly choosing which team you're on instead of you being able to choose. The equation would still keep balance while still making it random. The only problem with that is people creating multiple accounts until getting the color they want.

Edit- it really doesn't matter what niantic does, the super hardcore will find ways around their actions and will spread it to everyone. The only way they can't stop them is to severely hold back certain functions of the game which hurts everyone.

Yeah its pretty unfortunate. Im not claiming to have the answer to balance gameplay, but Id imagine a boardroom full of top silicon talent would be able to come up with something. Perhaps some special gyms that cant be capped, maybe even team specific? Im not sure, but I dont think the current system really takes long term play into consideration. Top players get HUGE stardust bonuses that everyone else cant make up for by playing.

I dont really think Niantic cares though. There really has not been much shown from them that they value long term playability. I think their end goal is just to keep attracting new players and wait for them to give the game up in the late level 20s, and then bring in new players.
