In reading the works of many sports scientists, Hatfield boiled down their thoughts to seven fundamental laws that apply to all training (although some sports might have additional laws). These are the seven principles that guided him to squat 1,000lbs without the supportive suit technology available now for powerlifters. He indicated that these laws apply to all types of training and not only powerlifting."

X2, LOL so he's just as good at faking drug tests as he is squatting. I cannot even imagine putting 1000 lbs on my back and taking it off the rack without my legs buckling. Taking anything over 500 lbs off the rack hurts like hell I cannot even imagine twice that. For me the hardest part of doing a 1 RM squat is just getting in a comfortable stance after taking it off the rack.. and barely doing over 1/2 what he just did..

That link has nothing to do with this discussion.

It was done in the IPF. At that time, all they had was single ply. It was most definitely a single ply suit and knee wraps

The subject matter of this thread is a belt and knee sleeves only.

I'm not trying to discredit Dr. Squat at all but Ray's squat is a world apart

No, it isn't. Take it from a national level older competitive power lifter that single ply from the eighties was worth almost nothing.

I'm not even sure Eric hit that much in sleeves tbh...

But this was hands down the best squat I've ever seen in my life. No words to even explain how incredible an achievement that is.

Accept it or don't. It doesn't really matter. Go look at the record books if you don't believe me

Erics 920 @ 308 in sleeves

Eric hitting 955 @ 308 in training, also in sleeves.

I think Ray Williams hit depth better than Eric but certainly when accounting for the body-weight difference Eric is up there too.

There definitely is merit to the argument but not enough to change the classification of the lift

Some of these guys act like they were lifting in spandex tights with kleenex knees wraps too which is just rubbish

Thanks for the links brotha! - on spread - I knew it was something 9+ but i didn't know it was over 950... that actually is pretty comparable considering bodyweight. Rays depth is just so perfect though. I did my first meet in sleeves this year and it's definitely a bigger change than you might think going from wraps to sleeves, so for Eric to be able to work up to something that close to his wrapped max (at that time) is extremely impressive. These guys are simply on another level but no doubt that right now Ray is king.

Anyone know what his dead and bench maxes are? You would think the guy's totals would be higher than Lilliebridge and Malanichev.

Eric has only hit high 900's in sleeves. Like 970 (I think). This was an absolutely insane squat. It looked easy too.

We need a new ideology with the core values of reason, honesty, science and secular progress over the older traditions of religion, superstition and dogmatic faith that have long defined humanity.
