Need help with alcoholism (srs). I'm an alcoholic.
Finally decided to seek out the misc for help. I'm an alcoholic. I don't really know the last time I didn't drink. Must've been a couple days in March maybe but since then I haven't missed a day. Recently it got so bad that I began taking vodka to work in a water bottle just to keep the buzz going all day. I'd drink before the gym after work, then I'd drink when I'd get home from the gym. I wake up daily feeling depressed and anxious and I immediately pour myself a drink just to take the anxiety and depression feeling away. I don't even get hangovers anymore the next morning, the hangovers have turned into anxiety/depression. I want to quit badly but I'm scared of the withdrawals that may come and I think this is the biggest reason why I haven't quit. I wake up at night with night sweats. My bed and sheets are pretty much soaked in sweat. I'm actually crying right now because I want to get rid of this fukking disease so bad (no pussy).

Your real problem isn't drinking. Your problem is whatever is causing you to feel depressed and anxious. Once you deal with that you'll be able to quit drinking all together much more easily.

Agreed with inkie. Going cold turkey when quitting drink can be fatal.
Speak with a counselor or doctor regarding this and they can make appropriate recommendations for you.
If you have health insurance it most likely will cover inpatient rehab if you need it and no job in the USA can fire you for going to rehab, they may even (not sure) be required to hold on to your job while you're away.
Best of luck!

check in somewhere to detox
take a week off work - plan it in advance if you have to
the program stuff may or may not be for you
but the detox is a hard stop
then don't start up again for as long as you can

Too real, and too many feels right here bro.
I have battled this since I was about 24. Years and years of self medicating with alcohol and I still do it on and off today. For me, when things are good it's when I break the cycle by finding something new to motivate me. The last time is when I decided to do a BB show back in 2012. The problem is many of us are very black and white by nature...all or nothing.
Are there things that interest you when you aren't/haven't drank in your life?

Taper down slowly.
A small decrease in the amount each day - it won't hit you as hard both physically or mentally.
Don't even think about cold turkey.

Good support group is important too. You need friends/family to support you. Eliminate anyone from your life that could be detrimental to your recovery process.

Question:
-How many drinks do you have in a day?
-Do you get drunk? or just enough to get a buzz? or just a few shots to "even you out?"
-How do you not get hangovers?

If it's all due to drinking (cycle) and you are unable to deal with it on your own, seek help and check in to rehab. You have to take the first step and say enough is enough.

Been there brah.
I've had a very big problem with binge drinking over the past 9-10yrs.
I don't have one or two beers and stop. If I drink I'm doing it for the sole purpose of getting rekt for 2-3days straight.
Now I'm to the point where I only drink a few times every couple of months.
Your definitely not alone on this. You got support, you got dis m8.

Admitting it and reaching out for help is good but the misc is not best placed for direct help. See your doc. Speak to your friends and family, you need all the support you can get. Your workplace may even be understanding.
If you are drinking at work this is the start of a slippery slope - get help before the booze starts to take important things in your life from you. This is a tipping point.

Here are 12 conditions linked to chronic heavy drinking.
Anemia
Heavy drinking can cause the number of oxygen-carrying red blood cells to be abnormally low. This condition, known as anemia, can trigger a host of symptoms, including fatigue, shortness of breath, and lightheadedness.
Cancer
"Habitual drinking increases the risk of cancer," says Jurgen Rehm, PhD, chairman of the University of Toronto's department of addiction policy and a senior scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, also in Toronto. Scientists believe the increased risk comes when the body converts alcohol into acetaldehyde, a potent carcinogen. Cancer sites linked to alcohol use include the mouth, pharynx (throat), larynx (voice box), eso****us, liver, breast, and colorectal region. Cancer risk rises even higher in heavy drinkers who also use tobacco.
Cardiovascular disease
Heavy drinking, especially bingeing, makes platelets more likely to clump together into blood clots, which can lead to heart attack or stroke. In a landmark study published in 2005, Harvard researchers found that binge drinking doubled the risk of death among people who initially survived a heart attack.
Heavy drinking can also cause cardiomyopathy, a potentially deadly condition in which the heart muscle weakens and eventually fails, as well as heart rhythm abnormalities such as atrial and ventricular fibrillation. Atrial fibrillation, in which the heart's upper chambers (atria) twitch chaotically rather than constrict rhythmically, can cause blood clots that can trigger a stroke. Ventricular fibrillation causes chaotic twitching in the heart's main pumping chambers (ventricles). It causes rapid loss of consciousness and, in the absence of immediate treatment, sudden death.
Cirrhosis
Alcohol is toxic to liver cells, and many heavy drinkers develop cirrhosis, a sometimes-lethal condition in which the liver is so heavily scarred that it is unable to function. But it's hard to predict which drinkers will develop cirrhosis. "Some people who drink huge amounts never get cirrhosis, and some who don't drink very much do get it," Saitz says. For some unknown reason, women seem to be especially vulnerable.
Dementia
As people age, their brains shrink, on average, at a rate of about 1.9% per decade. That's considered normal. But heavy drinking speeds the shrinkage of certain key regions in the brain, resulting in memory loss and other symptoms of dementia.
Heavy drinking can also lead to subtle but potentially debilitating deficits in the ability to plan, make judgments, solve problems, and perform other aspects of "executive function," which are "the higher-order abilities that allow us to maximize our function as human beings," Garbutt says.
In addition to the "nonspecific" dementia that stems from brain atrophy, heavy drinking can cause nutritional deficiencies so severe that they trigger other forms of dementia.

I havent had a drink since April 25th 2014. You should probably go to a detox place. They will pressure you to go to rehab afterward and it might be a good idea to do that too. But the detox is necessary. Once there they won't let you out until the doctor says it's okay. They will probably give you medicine to make the withdrawals far less unpleasant (it'll still be rough.) They will have a bunch of food there and sometimes there are hot girls there you can fool around with (against the rules though). That is just for getting through the withdrawal. You got a long road ahead of you but you will start to notice the benefits in a 1-3 months.
