How bad will the military screw you after you fail a drug test?

Took urine test today. Drank a diluting solution about 30 minutes before the test. There is a chance I will still pop for marijuana. I know I won't be arrested but if I get a bad conduct discharge, how hard will it be to find a job when I get out?

Not really that pressed about it because I want out but is it something that stays on your record forever?

Why wouldn't you just quit the grass and wait a month for it to be out of your system instead?

Other than honorable discharge
Will probably never be able to land a government job
Idk how long it stays on your record
Your lifes not over but you burned a lot of bridges.
You look like a chitbag, especially since you don't even seem to care that you'd get kicked out.

how would getting kicked out, if that even happens, hurt employment chances?

Your resume isnt gonna say you were dishonorable discharged.

Depends on how much they need you at the time. When I first enlisted you got put on a short leash, had to go to anti-drug counseling, etc, and as long as you stayed clean after that you were fine. A few years later the Army was downsizing and a single failed test was instant BCD. A lot of employers treat a BCD the same as they would a convicted felon.

depends. i've known some where they got 45/45, reduction of rank and other than honorable discharge. i've known a few that went to the brig and dishonorable discharge. it's at the COs discretion tbh.

i've seen a few cases where it was tucked away too but they were special cases and were specwar/eod guys and had documented cases of ptsd and other issues.

one thing is certain, kiss your gi bill away

depends. he might not be able to work for the federal govt again or companies that are working government contracts; especially if the job requires a clearance.

the biggest thing is losing your GI bill; thats basically free money and 36 months of college down the drain

depends on how much your co's love you and how valuable you are.

I mean yeah losing the GI bill would really suck but I agree with what someone said about the civilian world not caring about weed as much in 2016. I don't think Id ever want a government job again so if that's all that it will restrict me from, not the end of the world.

Plus the military got me on pills for pain and sleep so that's where I first made drugs a habit. Not blaming them but it's kinda true and when you are stuck in a job you hate, chances are higher that youll turn to drugs.

Similar situation with me. So what ended up happening with him?

One saving grace is the military does its drug tests in a mass test. So all the urine samples from that group of people who tested today will be combined. If the sample pops, they will test everyone again and then the lab will test each individual sample. So you basically get two tests and if you fail both, then you're screwed.

Will see.

Yeah. 10 years ago it wasn't as strict but any illegal drug use or a DUI is grounds for getting the boot. Its retarded that weed is even considered a drug these days but that's America.

Completely false. Where do you come up with this stuff? (Then again, you pretend the military is "screwing you" when you choose to violate well-known federal law and military regulations)

If Navy: YOUR sample is tested several times. Positive on each is reported back to your command, and you'll be discharged within weeks. If any test is negative, then your criminal ass got lucky, and nobody is told anything.

Speaking for the Navy: Random tests, at a bare minimum once a year. Computer program determines if "today" will be a test day, and random list of those to be tested. Most people will pop every month or two, but you could just as easily get two days in a row.

Im not in the navy but my information is from people I knew who worked in the drug testing center of my previous base. It could be different depending on the base and how many people are being tested. The reason they do it like that is because most people don't fail so a second test usually isn't needed and it saves the military money and time. I have no idea how it's done in the navy.

Also, they do not usually separate you within a few weeks. A guy I used to work with popped on a test and it took almost 6 months until they gave him the go.

how would that even work bro? dont drug tests detect a certain limit per ml or something? if they did it like that their would never be a failed test cuz one guys positive piss would be diluted from the gallons of piss...?
