tesla will change the world... its only a matter of time before these are standard on all houses, cars are electronic and drive themselves, and we have a base on the moon and mars because of this man.

elon musk will go down as one of the greatest humans of all time.

Damn, that looks good.
Personally though, I don't care about how my house looks from the outside. If 'regular' solar panels are cheaper and equally good, or if you can find some that are more efficient etc. I'll get those for sure.
Mind = blown if millions and millions of people don't use solar panels because "they look ugly."

Yeah, don't get me wrong. If they were priced competitively with other solar panels I would obviously choose the tesla shingles, but if it is a lot more expensive I can care less about looks.
What are you on about mate?

Their biggest hurdle has been aesthetics, which seems to have been resolved. Next they have to fix the price problem.

Are they as toxic as the older style?
What's the cost?
How long is their life cycle?
Can they be recycled?

I disagree...The ROI has been the challenge. Just a few years ago it took 15 to 20 years to recoup your investment from solar. By the time you paid for solar they were outdated and ready for replacement.

The ROI has been drastically improved over the last few years. It's starting to make financial sense. The last time I saw the ROI it was typically 9 year ROI (on average).

Musk is an entrepreneur and if the financials hadn't made sense he wouldn't have invested....

Either outcome is possible but which one it will be says more about us than it does about him. The simple fact that we see 'aesthetics' of our housing structures as the primary obstacle is indicative itself of a larger problem.

In on Elon Musk thread. Dude is one of the great gamechangers of our era.
READ THIS: You know how your Visa gift cards usually end up with $0.63 left on them, so then you carry them around for months before you eventually just throw them away? Well, Tarck's here to tell you that most charities have a PayPal link on their website where you can quickly donate that balance (even if you don't have a PayPal account). It only takes a moment and it beats literally throwing money away. Thanks for your time; we now return to your regularly scheduled cuckold and FA threads.

9 years on mine, gov subsidies ftw.

And yes these tiles have existed for a while now. Not sure if his are better looking, better thought out or cheaper, but it can only be a good thing if he gets involved, right?

Also keep in mind that not just residential places need roofs. I bet lots of commercial properties would be willing to shell out the cash for them.
