My grandpa has smaller panels that he could hide under roofing that he installed back in the 60s. Solar is one of those technologies everyone thinks is new but is actually from like the mid 1800s. They are just more efficient nowadays.

They're been talking about solar shingles for the last 10 years or more...

same with electric cars

Same with fuel cell cars. Weren't we supposed to have cars that run on water by now? LMAO

Same with colonies on other planets. I remember watching Discovery Channel chit in the 90's as a kid where they predicted colonies on Mars by 2005... oops

LMAO @ getting excited about future tech. Wait until it's actually in full commercial scale production

When people realise you need to buy an 8K new battery for electric cars every couple of years and that it takes hours to charge them, this fad will die out.

Elon Musk is a great man but some of you suck on his knob way too much. I don't consider him a creator or inventor, he is a savvy businessman who takes preexisting ideas and makes them work lot better and nicer due to his reputation and connections.

Indeed. Solar needs to get at least another 4x cheaper or more efficient before it can overcome the conversion losses incurred in practical buffering methods.

Tesla is still in its growth stage of the business cycle. This means they are going to take on massive debt to reach the mature stage where they start reaping profits, but they actually turned a profit this last quarter, numbers are just in. There profit margins are good too, way above the industry standard. Around 25% irrc.

I know this because I'm doing a 15 page (so far) analysis of the company. I've compared them with each competitor as well using several analytical tools. I've look at their financials and their 10-k. Although they aren't a good investment (stock is currently overvalued) They are expanding their operations on a massive scale, their supply chain management is bar none, their information systems have been built from the ground up and are one of the best companies I've seen start and become successful this quickly.

Basically I think you're ignorant on the subject manager and it's time to stop posting.

The praise is he is actually doing something to better the future of mankind. They may not be new ideas or whatever but he's doing something and he's trying. He really is a visionary in terms of what he wants the future to be like.

How did you come up with that math? Is your regular electric bill like 1000/month? My electric bill is around 120...so if it costs 50k that will take forever to see a return.

His cars are constantly winning consumer reports awards, Tesla just had a profitable quarter, cheap affordable cars are coming. You're obviously not aware of the concept of disruptive innovations (usually split in four stages) so I'll forgive your ignorance, but you should read into it. The process by which Tesla has been going through is a textbook example of disruptive innovation.
