The drone people people would differ. They think its outrageous that someone would regulate their toy. A year ago, someone would have made a similar statement that its out of the plausibility of happening. Then time goes by, media does their demonizing, and bam- regulation. Just look at the media's treatment of Trump, their agenda is far left. Ban? I doubt we'll see a ban, but I do think there will be a check, or requirement like an ammo ID card, where you need to take a course to buy. Or provide a hunting license. I can see all sales of ammo and gun accessories like scopes being logged. Law enforcement is going to want to know who has gun accessories and is buying ammo. I can see some tactical scope variants being Law Enforcement Only (I can hear Pelosi asking why would a citizen need an EOTECH 552?)

Its foolish not to plan ahead. I went on a spending spree after the '94 ban sunsetted. People waiting this late to buy guns/mags/ammo deserve the panic atmosphere. You're saying wait for the late adopters?

Right not prices are perfect for scopes, like you're saying, nobody thinks they'll be touched. I would bet in 10 years people will be saying "Remember when you could just go on the internet and buy a scope?"

I agree with the folks saying it won't happen right away and they go after low hanging fruit first. But I think you guys underestimate how fast the media can turn public opinion. Who's going to counter it, spineless people like Paul Ryan? We have a Republican leader that literally told Obama that he wouldn't oppose his agenda. I gotta say, if Hillary wins, its full speed ahead for all the left. You don't agree with me now, but like I said, one use of a scope in a high profile killing and the left will put that in their crosshairs.

Being afraid of something happening and preparing for it is different than placing bets that it will happen. As I said in my last post, I'd bet in 10 years we won't be able to buy scopes as we do now. But that's a hard bet to make over the internet given the timespan.

Yah about 5 drones were f-ing with a fire fighting helli's by me during a forest fire last year. Grounded the whole fire fight effort. For 30mins or so.

The reg just means they can crash/shot the drone down and knock on the pilots door.

About ammo-purchase background checks...how is that not easily circumvented by straw-buyers? How could that even be investigated since ammo isn't marked with serial numbers?

Do any states besides California have such a law?

NY Safe act was supposed to have a database of ammo purchases and background checks, its just been forever in the making since the database system hasn't been ready. I live near the border to NY and most of them work over here. It would be trivial to get around. Lawmakers are retarded, just remember the '94 ban and how you just couldn't have more than 2 evil features. So everyone welded on their flash suppressors and cut off the bayonet lugs... no longer an assault weapon.

edit there have been attempts at serial numbers on bullet cartridges, "Ammunition Accountability Act" but none got any traction. The language in some were pretty scary

"No later than January 1, 2011, all noncoded ammunition for the calibers listed in this act, whether owned by private citizens or retail outlets, shall be disposed."

While the threat certainly isn't as immediate as AR's/AK's, listen to some of the garbage that occurs after a mass shooting. They talk aboutwhya civilian would need a tactical vest, 'soft body armor', tactical clothing, military style weapons, etc.

it's a matter of time before they also start asking why someone would need a "sniper scope" to deer hunt, or a "military style scope" (EOTech, for example), etc.

I still think we're a few years from that, though.

They are trying to do that in ca. Microstamping. Its why all the handgun makers are pulling out. Tech doesnt exist and too much $$$. Its a force out.

can confirm. i wanted an m&p 45, went with something else, and went back a couple of months later for the m&p and they were gone. the only available one was the shield.
