I've worked in food service and retail. We were not allowed to carry guns on the job. My state is also an open carry state.

The employee might lose his job. Businesses would rather they lose money over a robbery than somebody die during a robbery in one of their restaurants/stores.

robbed a place with a gun and paid with his life. if he hadn't been breaking the law it wouldn't have happened. if the parents knew that he was struggling so hard why didn't they help him out?

Businesses would also like their stores/restaurants to be safe and not have armed robbers potentially shoot their customers/employees. How was said employee supposed to know he wasn't a psycho going on a killing spree when he's waving around a gun?

Call me crazy, but some parents are unable to help out their children. Instead, the children help out the parents. The parents could be disabled/illness, unemployed and looking for work, lack proper training/education, or just POS's who refuse to work.

An employee pulling out a gun escalates the situation. What if the kids robbing the place weren't intent on killing anybody, but now noticed that someone pulled a gun? They would be more inclined to use their gun.

If there was to be a death, it was not the place of the employee at Pizza Hut. That is the place of law enforcement,

haha, then they would be all over TV protesting about police brutality. There is literally just no reasoning with people these days.

OK and if the robber decided to shoot them because he was an azzhole what do you have to say about that?

Just LDAR for the employees/customers?

I'm not advocating for either side. You are right, this could have been a possible outcome of the situation.

What I'm saying is that because of the employee escalated the conflict, and will now be reprimanded because of it. Retail and service employees aren't supposed to carry guns.

just ayy to the fukin lmao

and u are right, if a cop did it, they'd be saying "if there was to be a death, it was not the place of the police officer. That is the place of (insert other entity here)."

There are employee guidelines set forth by the employer. If an employer has a "no guns" policy, then the employer can choose to terminate. It could also be a public relations nightmare.

As for escalating the situation, I would disagree. The situation was already escalated when the deceased tried armed robbery. It wasn't like the person came in, and simply asked for a handout (which some homeless do without any violence), and the employee then pulled his gun.

The deceased was the AGGRESSOR, not the other way around.

losing a job at pizza hut is sure preferable to losing your life over the meager contents of their cash register. Fuk them good for the employee for excercising his 2nd amendment rights.

Why didn't he set his sights higher? Like a bank, or a armored truck.

Why pizza hut? Trying to get some free wings too?

If a cop had done it I'm sure it would probably be spewed as misconduct/hate crime anyway.

Let me guess, if a woman pepper sprays a man raping her she's "escalating the conflict," right?

How was this Pizza Hut employee supposed to know these guys weren't psychos who were going to go on a shooting spree? If you can give me solid evidence that the robbers weren't intending on killing anyone, I will see your POV. Until then, you lose.
