As the 7th leading economy in the world, they have some reason to. There's secular movements in various corners of it, most likely in rural areas where fringe aspects of religion or weird cult-like practices are the dominant hegemony, rather than mainstream Indian culture and discourse. You can argue as much as you want here - India is the world's largest democracy, with more co-existing religions, diaspora, languages etc than anywhere else in the world.

I have never been allowed to take the victim mentality from my parents. I was taught only one thing will get me to where I want to be in life and that's to work my ass off. I go out and get what I want. My father came from the fcken bottom, and doesn't allow me to forget how grateful I need to be to live in America. Getting girls is not a problem. Becauase we integrate, mind our own business, and work hard. Really, the only ones who ruin it for the rest of us "brown people" are the Muslims. There is a TON of tension in India between Muslims and the others (mostly sikhs and hindus). As long as they are being picked on and not the rest of us, we don't care.

To consider yourself a minority, for one thing you are separating yourself, and what's worse, into a lesser group. That is a victim mentality. Because they just keep their heads down and work really fking hard to be successful. They never needed or wanted safe spaces in college.

Honestly, I think the reaction right now to Trump winning is a direct result from eliminating bullying in elementary/middle school. Everyone wants to be a victim because they don't understand what it is like to truly have a problem. These whiny fks I get lumped in with due to my age make me so irate.
