I can 100% promise that message will go over her head and she won't read it as a come on. Some of the way undergrads wrote emails was ridiculous. She's just gonna think you're an idiot asking to "chill and go over the quiz"

You will have to be more blunt and make it obvious if you really want it to escalate and think you have a chance.


I always loved the undergrads personally but I will tell you as a side note a lot of the other grad students I worked with would make fun of the undergrads with how informal and childish they wrote e-mails. I mostly thought they were arrogant pricks they way talked about undergrads (f*cking academics man.... I'm not in academics since finishing which should tell you something about what I thought of most of them, nearly all of them went on to be professors).

There's a much better chance she's laughing at you with her grad friends than turned on. Good luck though, srs.

I mean you're not dead in the water necessarily I'm just letting you know how a lot of them are when undergrads aren't around.

Like I said I loved the ones I TA'd. It's not like it doesn't happen sometimes but it's risky on the TA's end. I can promise no one gives a f*ck about you. We're explicitly told we'll be let go if we cross lines and there's more on the line for us.

You're basically a paying customer on the other hand, they won't expel you, at least not the first time for making advances. Just say you didn't know.


I only TA'd my first two years in grad school and then interned somewhere my last two. For what it's worth I hooked up with a student I previously TA'd for once I was on internship and no longer connected to the school as an employee as a TA, but I wouldn't have risked losing scholarship by doing it while actually TA'ing her.

Your best bet is to approach after she's no longer your TA, so after final grades are officially in.

Best bet would be to ask her out after you are done with her class / semester. That way accepting a date won't jeopardize her job, etc.

Technically it possibly still could since she's considered an employee, but yes there's a greater probability they'd let that one slide which is why he should just wait until after the class is over.

Update

So, I met her in her office. Things were awkward on my part. She began the conversation with "It's good that you're still coming to office hours even though you have over 100% in this class". I told her I didn't, and we both calculated my score, and it is, in fact, a 100%. Part of what perpetuated the awkwardness is the fact that I DO have a 100, meaning I need no help at all because I understand the material.

We went over the 56 question quiz and she gave me the answers. She asked "which ones do you want to talk about?". I said "Oh, I only missed a few, they were stupid mistakes". The entire situation became awkward at this point, because she asked me what else I needed help on. I don't need help on anything, so I scrambled to talk about chit.

I asked when she's done with her Phd, where she plans to work, etc. She was kinda flirting, but at the same time, kind of giggling. She kept following up with "anything else you need help on?" or "what else do you want to discuss?". I strongly believe, based on her tone, that she was expecting me to ask her something. She told me that next week she would have a sub for recitation (I think she was strongly implying that I ask her out, because she was not going to see me next week). Things kinda ended awkwardly, but I feel I left on a good note.

What should I do? I can always see her in her office next week and ask her out for coffee?

Oh, and she was also showing some tittay cleavage, something that she normally doesn't do lol.
