Have to agree. I couldn't think of anything much worse than being an accountant. Must be mundane as hell. Think id rather clean toilets.

Depends what sort of accountant. Those with higher-level credentials can end up in upper management positions later on in their career.

idk what you guys are talking about, graduated with 3.3 accounting bachelors.

Got an internship that turned into a job right after college with a smaller CPA firm.

Making 47k a year before comp time bonuses. Have not worked over 40 hours a week once yet in 6 months. Scheduled for busy season jobs and wont be required to work more than 50 hours a week.

Keep listening to the BS these idiots spew.

Opposite for me. My auntie is quite high up in EY sydney. Also have older friends and people i know in the industry whom have alot of fun and enjoy their jobs. People just get a false perception of accounting as just doing tax and business audits all day

just like anything else, if you're an accountant with good communication skills and some ambition, you could move up the ladders

that being said, most of them will just grind Excel sheets for the rest of their life

Depends which kind of accountant you are.

Managerial Accounting and Tax Accounting are great jobs, top tier salaries as well.

Thread backfire... do some research lol, accounting is a top tier major. I actually work in the big 4 and have for a while so i can tell you the actual truth. 90% ppl ITT have no clue.

First of all, big 4 pays anywhere from 55k-60k starting in audit, tax gets a bit more. You can make 100-110k beginning at age 28-29 if you stay (uncommon but very doable if you are willing to put in the work). Meanwhile marketing majors are still getting 40k range salaries.

But the salary isnt the point, the resume part is. Most high rank people in corporations are all big 4 alumni. Big 4 on the resume is literally the GOAT thing in business. Got friends in the firm heading out as seniors getting 6 figure jobs sub 30 years old lmao. U mad?
