Actually amazons margins are thin, and they make very little. The assumption is that they reinvest profits in their business to grow, however comanies like google have profits and still grow. Amazon business model will crumble eventually.

Changes are being made. Obviously mods don't have the inside scoop but the new CEO is all about profits so I expect positive changes will be made. Personally I'd like to see more retention of new members. Not in the misc but the other sections. People join to get nutrition or weight loss help, post for a few days then vanish. If we can help keep them motivated to stay, that will help the site

This really jumps out at me about this site. The nutrition, exercise, workout program forums are ghost towns because anyone arriving and looking to discuss any of those topics is chased away with great vengeance and furious anger by the small number of remaining guardians of those topics.

Anyone who asks anything about nutrition is told that they should "read the stickies" and stop posting this ****. In many cases this is good advice, and quite possibly lots of people do read the stickies and learn the answer to their question and go away better informed. But the upshot is zero discussion, zero new content, zero recruitment of new membership.

The exercise/workout program part is even worse because their equivalent of read the stickies is "you should stick to an officially recognised program developed by a professional", on the basis that some self promoter with a book to sell has some magic trick. The upshot is the same, with no interesting discussions, no sharing of personal experiences, no value at all for would be new members.

Anyone who actually wants to have a fun and informative chat with like minded people about diet or exercise theories or experiences is actually better off going the Misc, where lively conversations about eating and lifting topics are actually possible.

It's more product selection than anything. Some of the most popular products are not sold here due to their past fine. High stims, the new legal unmentionables etc etc. Those two categories of products work whether or not anyone agrees with them. They're also the highest selling product lines on many other supp websites.

As a negged-to-red survivor crew member I feel that I must give my two cents here.
I can guarantee you a TON of new members are leaving simply because it's a hundred times easier to get negged here than to get repped. You can make a dozen helpful posts and get repped maybe once or twice. But post one comment that rustles some jimmies and congratulations you just got red in a minute.
And to all the people with high rep power who say "just lmaoo at people who care about rep power" yeah I doubt anyone cares about rep power when you've already got a nice amount. Try being red in this forum. brb can't make threads because red and no one cares. brb can't post without getting negged just because red.

Members with high reps in general, and MODS in particular should rep high quality NEW members with low rep power a lot more often. Stop repping your friends who already have 200k rep power just because you love them so much - they don't need it. Start repping people who actually need and deserve it.
Every new guy that doesn't know the unwritten rules here in misc (and how the fuk are they supposed to know it? they're new for god's sake) gets negged to red in a second then just quits because he can't even enjoy the forums properly. Then you wonder why all the newcomers leave so soon.. Mods should start negging people who neg for no fukkin reason.

A select few mods have turned into Nazis. Back in 2010 we could post the most retarded chit and not get in trouble, if anything it was a mod neg.

Just got banned a week ago for a day for no fukking reason specified, and got banned for a whole month because I told the op if he wanted to get banned to post porn. Apparently I was requesting porn

Not to mention the rep inflation from these mods repping the same people over and over again, which gives some members a retarded amount of power to turn new people red. New members joining = automatic deep in red, everyone disregards their posts, and they leave or make multi and troll.
