I had never heard of "cavalry carry" before now, sounds dumb as ****. I don't know why anyone would use it. I see no way that it could be faster than regular strong side or appendix carry.

I honestly don't know. I've used both, but I've been influenced a lot by MFC and what I read here. I think us filthy civvies probably hear sweep more, since it's probably more likely that someone is sweeping the barrel across the room not paying attention to what they're pointing at along the way (or from cavalry carry). I've mostly seen flag in here. But some shooting buddies have used it as well. At least 1 was military.

Years ago I never, ever lifted or worked out or anything in the AM. I got a printout of my attendance from Gold's Gym at the end of a year once (they wanted to show how much I used the place in convincing me to renew) and I checked the many clock-ins times...only one had an "AM" next to it...11:56 AM...and that was too early.

Yeah I would pretty much just lift in the AM now.

Most I have heard IRL and online is sweep, but some people here or there also use flag or muzzle.

I never heard that used except when talking about the idea of a laser being on the gun and if you were to point the laser at somebody that would be bad, just as a concept to think about

Serious question, I'm trying to learn everything I can. For a gun to carry + take to the range from time to time, what would you pick?

Idk why out of all the guns I carried in the shop (with the intention of having as a ccw), the one that I really liked and appealed to me was canik. How did you guys decide your first ccw?

I see a lot of people commenting glocks lol

What belt and holster were you using when you tried carrying them in the shop?

Glock 19 or Glock 26 with a good belt and holster, unless you really want the small/concealability thing then you go single stack with Glock 43 or S&W Shield 9mm or similar

Glock because
-They work
-Are not overly expensive
-Holster options galore
-A monkey could detail strip it, not that you'll ever need to
-Sights and other parts galore
-Magazines are inexpensive, high quality, and available all over the damn place
-Real KISS interface of no manual safety striker pistol, so no manual safety or decocker to remember or different trigger pulls to learn or anticipate
-Theywork
-Extensive lineup of sizes and cartridges so you can expand later without re-learning controls, grips, trigger, grip angle, etc

I still have to take the ccw class, I have my FOID card so I just held the guns at this point. I don't know what belt/holsters to go for. I was thinking of getting my gun and taking the class or just taking the class with whatever gun they offer and then figuring things out after.

Holding a pistol won't tell you anything about carrying it daily, particularly when you have no experience carrying a pistol.

Of course, but I worked with what I can for now for picking my first gun. I'm sure once I try to carry, I'll change my mind about my first impression of said guns.

Go spend a few hours on YouTube. Start with Hickok45 for pistols you want to know a little about then start clicking through suggested videos about them.

This is the difference between a 26 and a 19, particularly as it matters to concealment

What you wear is going to make a big difference in whether a gun is concealable, and whether or not it's comfortable to carry. Carrying a VP9 in an Aliengear holster IWB is not difficult in a suit and tie.
