Every IB associate ive met has said the people who just see finance about making alot of money find it hard to stay in a job because they dont have the passion to work ridiculous hors where as someone whom has interest will work those long hours

I honestly don't know how investment bankers study for the cfa ... I'm not even in investment banking, if I were I'd be in the office from 7am -12am and I dunno when I'd study for the exams .... I like my job and finance ... hopefully after a few years this will have been a rewarding time

Late 20's brah here. Thinking about getting a finance degree, do you recommend it? I already make ~75-80k but I don't want to do manual work when I get older, and you can make alot more in finance, I'm making as much as I ever will in my field. I also live in the states, not sure if that makes a difference.

What field are you in? Its kind of hard to tell people to sacrifice 4 years of their life without knowing their current job that already makes good money

Maintenance Electrician. It's not hard labor or anything but it is a bit dangerous and dirty. I have to climb ladders all the time, deal with heights, cold/hot weather, work in odd positions. What's a normal day for a finance professional? My company will pay for schooling and I would probably start in corporate finance.

I have an associates from a trade school and about 23 credits from local universities. I do have to continue working and I am looking at Penn State World Campus to get the whole degree online.

it's usually from 8 hours a day, with first meeting at 6 am... this morning I was tired af so I turned on my script that made it appear that I'm online and took a nap for 3 hours... then did a couple hours of work and called it good

What do you do in finance that has chill hours like that OP? I'm starting in DCM at one of the big 5 canadian banks soon and will be putting in 70-75h/week every week

The best way to get rich is starting up your own business or running it by yourself. Graduating from a college and getting hired for a job will give you a maximum salary of 200k and that's after 8 plus years of working. That's being successful but normal. I'm working a job right now but i'm saving up. once I get 75k saved up i'm going to start my own business and I already know what to start it in.
