If your major does not include taking calc/chem/physics, it is NOT a science

I'm tired of these ******* psychology, sociology, political "science", and other **** and I mean literally **** majors, acting as if what they're studying is in any shape a science.

You *******s haven't even taken a single core science/math class, and yet you try and tell us that your work is somehow scientific. ****ing retards, I swear.

"Scientific studies" in psychology and sociology are a legit joke. Half the time results can't even be replicated. A lot of their results come from data that had nothing to do with their original hypotheses. Most/all of their data is based on surveys, questionnaires, etc and are chit for demonstrating causal relationships.

TLDR; I agree OP

I agree. But I haven't met anyone who claimed being a scientist without taking true science classes.

Why make a thread about this?

If it uses the scientific method, it is science.

I agree with him partially. It's why I hated my major. Half the **** you learn about in Psych 101 was some dudes opinion(theory) or ****ty ass research 100 years ago. I forget who exactly (maybe Erickson ?) but his whole theory on development is based off his theee children lol. I think both psych and soc. are plagued by so much pseudo science that it makes the whole paradigm less reputable.

I think psych is a lot of term memorization, but sociology is my favorite social science, partly because sociology is based off of statistical data and different perspective analyses.

I read extensively on the age of growing inequality in America, and I felt that it expanded my mind far more than any science/math course.

Lol scientific method requires that studies be replicated. You can't do that with your **** major. Quit trying to squeeze your way into the real sciences, your major has as much science to as Miss Cleo's astrology.

If someone claims that their subject is a "science" due to the "scientific method", as that ******* above stated, then the studies/labs done must be able to be replicated. If it can't, it's not a science, as it doesn't adhere to the requirements set forth by that *******.

Then I hope psychiatrists have taken o-chem, p-chem, and biochem, otherwise it's a pseudoscience.

That's just a falsehood.

Psychiatry is the application of medication for the purpose of treating neurological disorders. It falls under the umbrella of "neuro-science."

psych major here. taken science core classes.. except I was in exercise science before switching majors. I HATE science. I took biology (failed first time - prof got fired later for failing so many students in big lecture. retook it and got like a B), physiology (failed class, passed lab). Taken geology. I've taken math - Algebra I, II, and stats along with a psych stats class.

Psychology isn't the easiest to be honest. It's easy for me because I am actually interested in it - not everyone is. You excel most at what you're naturally motivated to learn. I like the gym and reading studies about exercise and shyt but when I was studying it, the science shyt and whatnot was straight mundane. Offer me 1mill to become a doctor and I'll do it and finish top of class because I'm getting paid to. Just the type of person I am. Psych is seen as easy and yeah it is easier in some aspects which is one reason I chose it. To get out of so many science and math classes. At this point I just want a full time job and not have to work and go to school. I just want out. I want a degree and that's it. BUT I have connections in the social work field, a job offer for when I get out of college because of that. And it really is interesting to me. I like it, and am naturally motivated to study. I go with what is comfortable to me.

Most of these science professors are anti-god and try to spew BS about evolution and big bang and shyt I just don't agree with. Why would I be interested in listening to that? It's like I could learn science but they throw their shytty views in and try to make you conform. I'm not interested in that at ALL.

Would have, but it's not something that motivates me class-wise. And I have connections going the psych route. I just don't agree with any of this college crap to be honest. I want it to go back to apprenticeships. Way more interesting and motivating when it's hands-on. I could become anything if we went back to apprenticeships.

The people that invent the drugs are actual scientists. Most psychs don't even know how many of the drugs they prescribe work and just randomly try them; see them about depression and 3 psychs will offer three different drugs with no scientific justification.

They are failed medics.
