This is a rubbish example for the point you're trying to make (which I also don't agree with). You are citing qualitative explanations for quantifiable concepts. Take your periodic table diagram. It shows trends. However, all over the periodic table are exceptions to the trends. Luckily chemistry is a real science, and the different factors which interact to cause the trends as well as the exceptions are well studied, quantified and modeled. Properties of elements were predicted decades before they were synthesized. That's why it is real science. If all we had was "electronegativity seems to go up from left to right but not always", then it would be on par with social sciences, equally rubbish in other words.

The "soft" sciences certainly have their uses, but let's not kid ourselves about their power to explain, predict or govern how the world works. They should just be called studies instead of sciences.

It would take you a decade of study to get to the level of understanding that these professors possess about their respective fields, and even they borrow their conclusions from people far smarter and more knowledgeable than themselves. But you will never get to know any of that because what they're saying disagrees with your misguided intuition so you declare them witches or gurus and run the other way. Your weak mind couldn't tolerate bringing into question the things you believe in.

You never had an ounce of scientist in you, that's why you did psych.

Political science and History double major checking in, usually you decide on majors that relate to your field of choice. It's dumb to assume that some math courses are the prerequisite for being considered a science.

It's a term coined by pseudo-scientists to give their studies an air of legitimacy.

Or, to be more generous, it is a vague term which refers to a methodology which attempts to be as rigorous as possible in drawing conclusions from flawed experiments. A theoretical physicist will probably laugh when you ask him if he follows the scientific method. Does that mean he's not a scientist?

People are capable of pursuing minors, or taking classes that interest them. Not every class has to be relavent to your major.

I've taken calc 1, all of gen chem, all of bio (including genetics,) and some physics. Social sciences are indeed sciences, despite their lack of natural science coursework.

IMO, I feel that all universities should force students to receive a minor in something that is the polar opposite of their major. I feel like a more well rounded person because I have a decent understanding of natural and social sciences.

Agreed. I was accounting/finance and I took these because no education is complete without them. It wasn't even part of my major. lol @ any science major that did not take these.

Psychology isn't the easiest to be honest. It's easy for me because I am actually interested in it - not everyone is. You excel most at what you're naturally motivated to learn. I like the gym and reading studies about exercise and shyt but when I was studying it, the science shyt and whatnot was straight mundane. Offer me 1mill to become a doctor and I'll do it and finish top of class because I'm getting paid to. Just the type of person I am. Psych is seen as easy and yeah it is easier in some aspects which is one reason I chose it. To get out of so many science and math classes. At this point I just want a full time job and not have to work and go to school. I just want out. I want a degree and that's it. BUT I have connections in the social work field, a job offer for when I get out of college because of that. And it really is interesting to me. I like it, and am naturally motivated to study. I go with what is comfortable to me.

the simple fact is that we know more about the standard model of quantum physics than we do about human psychology and development

just because we know less about these fields does mean they are not scientific

psych and the related fields seem rather soft and mushy. That's merely our understanding, or lack thereof. The nature of human behavior is complex and built upon layers of the hard sciences.
