it's amazing how brainwashed people are into thinking that whey protein is this magical supplement that is going to give you gains, when they don't understand the simple concept of macronutrients. all whey protein is is a chemical substitute for protein, which you should be consuming through whole foods like beans, meat, and nuts.
i understand if you need whey protein on-the-go if you don't have time to cook all the time, but if you think its ESSENTIAL to have a good body then just LMAO @ YOU
also I was telling him how you only need about .8g protein/1 lb of bodyweight but so many people think you need to take 1.5g+/1lb of bodyweight... just lmao
then he disregard everything i said and just said "thanks for reminding me, i gotta take my whey protein for the day" just lmao...

Everyone knows all you need is whey protein to look like lifetime drugfree superheroes such as Mike O'Hearn and Kali Muscle.

eggs and chicken breast all the time.
so supplementing with whey is a smart way to go.
EDIT: and what do you mean by whey is a chemical substitute for protein?
whey is as natural as "real food" lmao

No pro has specifically said this.. But they have said it without saying it, beat around the bush about it, etc. Rich Piana is pretty candid about it saying always choose real food when available. A few pros have had the balls to come out and admit they only drink whey when food isnt available even when the supps company sponsors them.

Whey is a decent alternative to "grocery store" proteins like fish, meat, poultry and eggs. Its a far superior protein to incomplete sources like beans and soy proteins
I have seen diets from pros that get half of their protein intake from whey and others that consume almost none. It really all comes down to preference it seems.

It's not hard at all to get the protein you need from your meals. The supplement market on the whole is the biggest scam and I feel bad for people who waste money on all the stupid supplements that are peddled.
Take a multi if you diet isn't getting you everything you need, drink a protein shake if you are unable to hit your target through your meals (most days you shouldn't need to drink one though, it really isn't hard), creatine if you want and that is that.

OP is right. All you need in grams of protein is .8g protein/1lb bodyweight. Whey protein supplements are big business and the only time you should probably take it is when you don't have time to eat.

First off it isnt PER LB OF BODY WEIGHT you dolt, its per pound of LEAN MASS
Secondly, there is no report that says 1gb per/lb, nor .8.....its dependent upon your needs.....you think a soccer mom of 3 at 5'2 110lbs needs 110g of protein? Get the fuk out of here
There are people who are leaner and better looking than you that consume .4g of protein per lb of lean mass.....yet some how you believe the bullchit you spew?

But who was low glycemic index?
But who was great macros?
But who was easy on the stomach for digesting?

I can understand the distrust of the fitness/supplement industry, but I never understood why people choose whey protein to attack (unless it's a brand that amino acid spikes, or uses cheaper milk concentrates/whey concentrates).
Surely whey is the one legitimate "supplement." It's just protein with a complete amino acid profile. Sure it doesn't benefit you anymore than egg whites/chicken breast, but it's convenient and relatively cheap. I don't really even consider it a "supplement," but rather just a grocery item...
With all the BS crap out there produced by supplement companies, complete with flimsy/falsified "studies," people choose whey... Lmao.
Edit: Lol'd at "chemical substitute" for protein.

0.8g/ LEAN lb of bw or 1g/lb of BW, ive never understood why if your looking to maximize gains, you wont consume what amounts to an extra 30-40g of protein. Like fuk obviously real food is GOAT but 40g of protein is like a scoop and a half of whey, which depending on the brand is roughly a $1 so its not breaking the bank
also i find whey proteins greatest benefit is during a cut when im trying to keep my protein intake around 1g/lb of BW as it supplies lots of protein but no other macros so the calories are lower
on a bulk ill just eat more fuking food
obviously 1/5g-2/lb is BS but whey does have a place in a muscle building diet if you arent consuming enough food
