Man produces 35-40 billion tons. The earth naturally produces about a Trillion tons.

Throw in the sun, ocean currents, earth wobble, earth tilt, earth rotation, the earths core, tectonics, space radiation, the moon, etc, etc, ..... how the heck could anyone with any certainty say, "Yup... its definitely man made."

You're questioning their knowledge of scientists' names as if that changes the data in any way, shape, or form.

If 97 out of 100 credible food employees told you a certain item contained peanuts.. would you need to know any of their names to use them as a source?

You're not making any sense. Stay on topic.

No im questioning their ability to process information critically

if I had a peanut allergy and 97/100 food employees told me the food has no peanuts, i'd still check to see if there were peanuts

these are big claims people are making without actually understanding wtf they're talking about, instead they just use talking points they heard from TV

You asked if they knew their names

And the scientists who are calculated into the 97% are accredited fora reason. So that isn't the argument.

You seem to be not understand the fact that the Earth has a natural cycle which is not adjusted to additional inputs. The Earth is a system that is used to for example a 1L input and a 1L output, humans are adding 30ML in every year, that doesn't magically mean the Earth has the ability to deal with a consistent increase into the system, year after year, not just a one off event.

I'd challenge you to actually read the 4 papers I linked to you in regards to the Sun's effects. To read any of the core IPCC's reports on Climate Change. And if you can pick falts in methodology etc that's fantastic and we can actually have an intelligent discussion. But as it stands, this thread is one clusterfuk of retardation. I guess the Ozone layer as well was all a big liberal hoax?

clearly you're missing the point

the question about names is irrelevant, change it to "name a single study and all of its details"

9/10 people I talk to about climate change could not do that, so why the hell should i take them seriously?

science is hard to understand for people that dont study the specific topic. We need to trust experts instead of declaring it fake, stop with the conspiracy theories that dont even make sense.

the only theory that makes sense is climate deniers backed by oil companies that dont want to go out of business, which is exactly what happens

Well it has only been cold in Florida for like 3-5 days so far since October and they are never back to back. Not even cold to warrant a windbreaker or sweater. It was super hot yesterday.

When I was a child, it would remain cold for a week or more starting in October. People would actually wear pants and sweaters and still be cold. We had icicles then....

That is scary to me. No need to be a scientist....

I am sure all other born and raised floboys will confirm this. You can't really rely on northerners to answer this.

No, that isn't the proof. Have you ever even read an IPCC report into Climate Change? If not, that's like me trying to claim gravity isn't real without having read Newton's work. It's far more than just seeing a corrolation between CO2 and temp and declaring it a factor.

Like I said, if you can give me papers, flaws in methodology of existing reputable papers that put forward the idea of human caused climate change, I would happily debate them. But there is nothing like that in this thread.

Of course a consensus can be wrong. I just haven't seen anyone in this thread or anywhere generally go. "This is wrong, here are the papers that I disagree with, here are their flaws, here is my own evidence to back up my claim."

Not blindly trusted, there's TONS of information out there just saying the average moron probably cant actually explain it well.
Consensues can be wrong, but these people have evidence and no reason to lie. The only deniers have a motive.

You cannot define earth as 1L in = 1L out therefore equals X... and call it a day. I've seen that argument before and it is mind boggling to me that they can get away with that. You're talking about a system with an almost infinite amount of variables which could be effecting temperature.

Lol, I am not trying to get away with anything. All my evidence is backed up in papers from Nature, the Royal Society and the IPCC amongst others. I used a simple anaology because nothing in this thread has lead to me suggest if I started spouting studies etc people would even read them. So why don't you give me some studies if I am so hilariously wrong?

You act like carbon tax is the only solution being offered. These same people are encouraging basic common sense efforts to change our lifestyle and become more "green" too.

If not for the carbon tax , you would believe in climate change?

I'd be more open to the idea if A) The carbon credit thing went away, B) The left wasn't pushing it so hard, and C) Questioning it/denying it wasn't treated as a blasphemous offense against some kind of God.

I don't think you understand what "scientific consensus" means, either. How is it possible for a man to know so little?

If a topic is agreed upon by 97% of a scientific community, there's a good chance that it's true. Anyone with common sense can see that.

They're not just making chit up. This is all backed by scientific data.

the thing is, i don't think most people who have a problem with climate change actually deny it's existence, they are more against the political agenda that comes along with it

when people blindly follow things and don't allow any discourse, then governments are free to do as they please

fact is, government is not going to fix climate change, they can barely fix the roads

it's up to scientists, the people and the free market
