In Seattle, no one really cares about the NHL. Yet, people complain about not having a team.

I would guess that thevastmajority of people who go to a game in places like Boston, Nashville, etc are coming from the suburbs.

A stroll through any u.s. city and you could surmise that from just looking around

I'm in Boston so it's fairly big/followed, but nowhere near the Patriots or Red Sox. I think even in the pockets of the country where it's most popular, it doesn't come close to the way some of the markets in Canada follow it. I wish it was more followed here though, I'm a hockey guy and I find it much more entertaining than other sports.

I play hockey religiously, but couldn't give two chits about the NHL.

College hockey is hnnnnnnggggggg though. Here in Raleigh, you can go to a Canes game for $10. No joke. When the Hurricanes were doing well, you couldn't find tickets. Chit was a madhouse.

Now, not so much. Although, the team is getting better.

The Capitals are pretty big here near DC but only because of Ovi. No one actually plays hockey though, but the tickets are always sold out and expensive as chit.

TFW its cheaper to get a plane ticket, fly south to Florida or Anaheim (or any other sunbelt team for that matter), go to the game, and fly back home than it is to go to a NHL playoff game in Canada

Columbus sort of fell off the map with hockey since the CBJ has sucked so badly--now, they're lighting it up, attendance is rising. Columbus will always be a Buckeyes Football city tho

This. Attendance isn't the best but it keeps the ticket prices really low. Got a ticket to the Caps game for like 40$ lower level.

Youth hockey is extremely popular here. 4 rinks with a 30min drive give or take.

I definitely would say it's pretty popular

I've played at all 4 rinks, even prices to play are reasonable compared to other states. The 3 main colleges have club teams too.

This... I'm from a rich part of Vermont and all of the best athletes play hockey in the winter. The NFL and NBA are still probably more popular to watch though.

Apparently not too big in Atlanta, since we had a pro team and no one gave a chit so they moved the franchise somewhere else. Don't know where and pretty sure no one else does either. Fun to go to the games, just don't care for it on tv until playoffs. Games gotta mean chit for me to watch

Irrelevant as fuk. Was watching the local news the other day and they brought up the pro team winning 10 straight, first I've heard of it.

I've been playing since I was 10 years old. I live in MPLS, MN. Hockey is huge here. My friends and I haven't missed a game on TV yet this season(unless we go to a game). Game nights are pretty big here in my group of friends. I usually cook for everyone at my friends house and we watch the game drink beer. I went to 2 wild games last week and going to another one on the 29th. My buddy and I live 3 blocks away from the outdoor rink so we walk down there every night after work and play pick-up games. Its usually the same group of guys every night. It's never a dull game!

Hockey doesn't have as many fans as the more mainstream sports, but in the colder areas of the states (Northeast, Minnesota, Chicago) tickets are expensive as **** and every game sells out. the fans are legit and not just frontrunners. Meanwhile the NBA games are lucky to fill up 70% of the arena unless lebron or curry come to town lol.

The US media hates covering hockey, because it doesn't give them a change to prop up black people. hockey is too white. That's why you only see USA glamorize Football(american), and Basketball while every other sport doesn't exist. Basketball being even funnier because literally noone gives a **** about any of the league aside from two teams.

Boston, MA here. I'd say about 60-70% of white people are hockey fans. But only maybe half of them are die hard fans. Vast majority of Ethnics do not care about hockey.
