USA Brahs, how big is hockey where you live?
Where I'm from hockey is religion. Can't get season tickets and single game ticket prices through the roof in price. My dad lives in sunrise and has Florida panthers season tickets, game prices are insanely low.. almost a quarter of the price of my hometown team. I just wanted to know is hockey popular where you guys live? Or does no one give a chit?

I know a few Devils & Rangers fans that are really into it, but I wouldn't say it's very big at all. Firmly behind NFL, NBA & MLB in popularity.
I call it "Celebration". It's sexual, and violent...

When the lockout happened, sports media essentially black balled the NHL. Hockey ended up on a hunting channel (other than regional sports networks) and that channel eventually became NBC Sports. ESPN came crawling back with a tv deal and the NHL told them to fukk off. There seems to be a mutual disregard between the two. But in cold parts of the country it's the winter sport rich kids play, at least from what I observe.

Big Pens fans here, also Columbus blue jackets.
We have a minor hockey team in youngstown and my 12 year old daughter plays on 2 teams. One co ed and one all girl elite team
Edit: looking at post above its not typically rich kids here. My daughter sure does not come from money on either side. It does take a lot of money to play and her father, who put her in it, pays for it. Its his version of child support

its got a good following here in NYC/NJ. Lots of Rangers fans (blehh), Devils fans (me) are less common but there is still a large fan base, Islanders fans you almost never hear about.
Hockey here is still behind Football and Baseball, where you have to listen to the mouth breather's talk about the Giants or Yankees 365 days a year. Sports radio here spends maybe 5 minutes per week discussing hockey, but they do have the games on the local broadcast, obviously.
I love it personally. the NFL is becoming less interesting every year, with all the commercials, penalties, and game stoppages. Baseball is boring outside of the world series. NBA has a few good games on Thursdays and the rest of absolutely unwatchable considering the lack of hustle and effort by about 90% of teams. I can watch a Lightning/Canucks game and be totally zoned in, just because the sport is so fun to watch.
I would put College football, college basketball, and the NHL in my top 3

Lived in Raleigh for a few years and some people there legitimately didn't know the city had a pro sports team. It was a joke. Canes games were so freaking cheap, but the experience sucked because the teams played in front of a half empty and zero hearted crowd. I've sat lower bowl for $10 at Canes games and seen uppers go for $0.50 at the end of a bad season.

Born in New Orleans...raised in Houston.
No exposure to hockey ever. Not even on TV. I've been ice skating when I visit family in Denver a few times, but that's as close as it's come.

I like hockey but it's pretty pathetic here in California. All 3 teams are usually pretty good, yet you can easily snag tickets and I've never seen sold out games here outside of the playoffs.

As a fan I hate to admit it, but it was the reality... they were literally last in attendance during the seasons that gave them the top draft picks that got them franchise talent.
