Fired coworker today. Apparently, that's not something I can do. Fuark.

Have the title of "sales manager" and run the daily operations for our office.

Today, one of the sales reps finally got on my last nerve. He's been completely ignoring all of the protocols we've trained on for months. Sat down at his desk and let him know since he isn't willing to play with the rest of the team, by our rules, I was letting him go.

Got a call from the agency owner ten minutes ago. He found out what I did and was furious. Apparently, hiring/firing decisions are not part of my duties or authority.

Now I'm super concerned I'll show up to work tomorrow and have to keep dealing with the guy I "fired".

Wtf is going to happen?! Does anyone here work in HR and have any ideas?!

Who the hell fires someone without checking with HR or verifying that it’s part of their job first? I know in CA if you fire someone you must present final payment for wages within a certain period of time (usually immediately). In some cases an employee can be “let go” today, but will be paid for the remainder of the week and in that case the employee would be paid on Friday.

Company has 11 employees. There is no "HR". I run almost all the day to day stuff. Figured this was well within my job description.
