let's cut the bullchit shall we. Every state has major plus sides.

I can't help but lol @ brahs who whine about Cali being a chithole because it's liberal or in debt. I grew up conservative. Every major city is stacked with regressives, real estate is among the most expensive in the world, and I still thank the lord I was born in this state.

For you Texas brahs, would recommend Michael Berry Show by the way if you haven't listened to him before. I have to settle for podcasts now that I'm not in one of the cities getting his show but still listen daily. Hilarious

Moved from SF -> Austin. Do not regret.

Work in a job where i'm travelling a ton esp during the week (mon-thurs). Austin rent is so much less than SF. No state tax (huge plus) (save $30,000+ per year), can go party in SF and it's cheaper than living there permanetly (if i'm on the road during the week).

Can actually afford to buy a place too. For the cost of an SF studio apartment, can buy a austin house, and a beach house somewhere else in the country (air bnb that too) with money left over for trips to fun tropical places, and investments to start the snowball rolling.

Actually have seasons.
Summer heat = a real sweat.
No dirty SF streets.
Makes sense to buy a nice car (I'm a car guy).
BBQ.
So many positives.

There are a few other places. Still planning on spending a lot of time in CA, just don't want to live there without having stupid money (and actually being there to enjoy the plusses)....

There are many good reasons to live in Texas, but scenery is NOT one of them.

I've lived in Texas my entire 21 years. Love the people, economy, political culture, southern style, cheap cost of living, etc.... Scenery is absolute sh*t though.

Almost any state in the country (except Oklahoma) can beat Texas when it comes to scenery.

Looks nice, but if nice scenery is your thing, you need to travel around a bit more before deciding that Texas is the end all. Wyoming, Idaho, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Alaska, Hawaii, Utah, Montana, certain parts of California, just about anywhere in Western Canada... the scenery in these places is insane.
Take it easy Christian
