A friend is about to choose the girl he's been dating over a $3 million inheritance!?

I've tried hard to convince him not to be an idiot and take the dad's money, but he keeps saying things like bro you are FA, you don't understand what it's like to be in love, etc, and basically shuts my advice down. Can you guys post your opinions so that I can just link him to this thread and hopefully he will listen and understand that i'm not being biased or have anything against the girl.

Cliffs of situation:

- Friend has known his GF since January, "dated" since April, relationship since July (6 months)
- Girl is different religion and social class to our White-British Middle Class community
- Dad wants brah to marry a girl of his choice and has dropped ultimatum to kick him out will
- Brah and dad have argued lots over this girlfriend; brah still wants to choose GF
- Dad has offered 100,000 cash to drop her and get arranged marriage
- Dad's condition is 100,000 more for every year he is married to girl of dad's choice
- After receiving 1 million after 10 years; if they have kids, dad will give another 500K per child
- Total inheritance dad is willing to give son to marry Middle Class girl & have 2 kids is 2.3 Million ($3M) including a 300,000 house on top of 1,000,000 cash over 10 years and 500,000 per grandchild
- Friend has until end of tomorrow night to end relationship; otherwise he's getting kicked out
- Friend's dad has put all of this in a legal contract through his family lawyer and accountant

Just came back from Five Guys with brah and he said that he's going rent a place with his GF and go NC on his family forever. They can go screw themselves and keep their money. I said bro don't be dumb, you've only been with her for half a year and you want to throw away 2.3 million pound over a girl who's still a student and can't contribute towards rent, nevermind savings for your future. But he just doesn't listen to me. He's completely blind in love.

If it makes any difference at all, he is a Dentist and makes $100,000/yr salary. But even then he takes home $60,000 after taxes, student loan, national insurance, etc, which is50 YEARSof saving every penny he earns to get to the $3million inheritance he could get just by dumping his GF and marrying someone who his dad wants him to marry - seems like a no brainer to me?!?!

How big is this land-beast of dad's choice? Money looks good, but not at the expense of your happiness. Especially only 3 million dollars

Your friend is clearly making the right choice.

I wouldn't want my father to give me money anyway even without conditions, let alone something so demeaning as choosing my relationships. How sad that you would let your father still control you as an adult.

He's highly educated and is earning a good salary, he can live his own life.

This is a ridiculous but actually believable story. Wow. How old is your friend? Surely he must be at least 25-26 by now if he's a dentist. I'm guessing he didn't date much during university? We need a Misc Emergency Squad to indoctrinate the 'sloots gon sloot' principle at once.

Also, where are da pics?

Edit: Just read this again, definitely support your friend. Lmao @ arranged marriages. His dad's choice must be ugly af for him to turn down 3 mil ayyy

Only 3 million? Not sure if srs.

There will be nothing wrong with the girl. She will be a standard 6.5-7/10 White-British Middle Class Christian Doctor or Corporate Lawyer or Accountant who's in our social class and community circle; the daughter of a family friend such as a Banker, GP, Oil Analyst or Businessman, etc like the rest of our parents.

But the girl he is currently dating is not White, she isn't Christian, and nor do her family come from money.

20 million is a more legit number...3 million is good during retirement.

He's 26 going on 27 in a couple of months, and before he met this girl, he was even more FA than me.

His girlfriend is an ethnic Nurse that covers a couple of dental practices in the region for the company that he works for. So she's in his clinic about once or twice a week. He asked her for coffee around a year ago and they've been dating 6 months now

Not really imo, that's just the done thing amongst the Established-Middle Class community.

He would be breaking a tradition that has been going on for centuries of two professionals marrying, breeding, and accumulating wealth and then passing on inheritance to their children who repeat the same thing. Many generations of his family have done this and accumulated millions and millions.

Maybe it's the fact that i've accepted that I will be getting arranged marriage to someone chosen by my parents, but he knew this for years, it's not like they've sprung it upon him overnight...

I came in expecting to think your friend is being downright retarded, but I would actually do the same thing. 3 million divided up into 100k per year really isn't worth having somebody control your life and choose who you marry. And sure, your brah will probably break up with his current girlfriend at some point, but the important thing is that for now she's the one he chooses and after her he can choose another girl.

Once you have enough to comfortably cover your essentials, money is overrated in terms of adding to your happiness. Material possessions won't do much for you and their novelty wears off fast, so making more money is mostly about buying more freedom and independence in your life. What good is that extra money your brah would make if he has to live with the feeling that he isn't totally in control and if the person he spends that extra wealth with is somebody he didn't choose and doesn't really care for?

I can't believe people do arrange marriages to this date @ 3 mil

Maybe interviews for marriage with $100mill but 3 now a days isn't the greatest tbh

Do you really think if she leaves and he's blown all his savings on rent, her and an Audi A5, he won't regret his decision when he's broke and broken?

Atleast by signing the dad's "contract" you're financially secure regardless of situation. Also, the girl you marry's father will be setting her the same contract, so she wouldn't be slooting either.

The ethnic Nurse could sloot and still take half of brah's chit. There's a high risk price on "freedom and independence" imo...

It's not a 3 million dollar inheritance if it's based on the condition of having children also, x amount per child, means that money is going to be spent on raising a poop factory in exchange for marrying a girl someone else picks. Get the fuk out of here, assuming this is a true story your friend is doing the right thing.

is Established Middle-Class code word for Middle Eastern?

If it was 3 million CLEAN, with the only condition being he breaks up with his GF, then that would be something to consider, but considering all the demands, your friend is in the right all the way.

I would have agreed with you until I read this part.

There's diminishing returns with money. Up to a certain point, more isn't necessarily going to improve your life. If your friend found a quality girl, that's worth way more than the money from his dad srs. Also if he likes being a dentist, then he's going to continue working anyway so more money is pointless.

Read the title as some one being kicked out of the will if they kept dating someone, in which case it would be stupid.

Read the rest of it and no thanks Jeff. Arranged marriage? What is this? The middle east?
