you have to realize a large percentage of the people that don't have kids are probably closeted homosexuals so it makes sense they wouldn't want kids. also time flies by quick. here you are making decent money as a single person then next thing you know you're 35 and desperate but have to keep up a facade of being happy. i guarantee you though, that all these single women in their 30s and 40s get VERY lonely at times.

american women and british women just aren't wife material. they feel entitled to most things whereas a married couple should be selfless. you're supposed to provide what your partner is missing... also marriage laws don't help either. being from a city full of liberals and single women, i can say wholeheartedly that majority of them hate their lives past 30. they're constantly on watch for men by going to classes such as dancing, cooking, sports, etc. the amount of desperate wannabe housewives here is astronomical.

Another thing is these women could be among the people who've gotten badly disillusioned by a chitty (or several) relationships and are 'sitting it out' for a while. Happens a lot, mostly they get into another relationship eventually.
Simple minds need simple answers.

Claiming that a stagnant economy is the product of women out working is just dumb when far more likely causes are inequality from lowering taxes on the wealthy/weaker safety net, workers having less leverage with lower unionization rates, exporting half our jobs due to free trade with countries that have low wages/overhead, etc.
Actually the causation is right there. The shame is I cant post links with under 50 posts but there has been plenty of evidence that our singular minded lifestyles have had a direct negative effect on our lowered sense of happiness and self esteem. The data is plentiful. If I make it 50 posts I will happily post this. And no, I never claimed that a stagnant economy is the result of women working so please dont put words in my mouth. There is a very clear timeline which has attributed to the current culture...most intellectuals pinpoint Lyndon Johnson's "Great Society" and the following period of Reagan induced "neo-liberalism". Both saw expansion of government control over the incomes of the lower middle classes and the latter saw in an era of rapid de-regulation in both finance and industry. The 80's ushered in a culture of unfettered worship of material wealth and excess...individualism became paramount as the structured concept of the nuclear family was degraded.

There is no independence. Living on your own with no companion whilst having to jump from city to city to remain competitive in a cut-throat job market where your input is rarely valued is hardly "independence". In fact all you have now is ruthless individualism...but the very things which such economic independence was meant ot achieve are slowly falling further an further out of reach. Both spending power and household net worth have taken a nose dive...so again, what independence has been achieved. There is a current crop of early 30's professional females who are starting to realize that most of what they own is through debt and they are not able to get onto the property ladder because the average home in any economically vibrant metropolitan area is out of reach. The culture you seem to be a-okay with is tied directly to the very things you claim are contributing to economic instability. Pls go.
Not having money problems. Having the time and money for more hobbies, travel, drugs, whatever. Not having to worry about waking up to some miserable kunt/@sshole that keeps getting fatter for the next decade until the kids grow up. Etc, etc. The alternative to not having kids isn't 'faffing' on social media or other hollow activites. Your emotion makes you vulnerable to black and white thinking and straw man arguments.
Hmmm. It all comes together. You sound bitter. Lemme guess, your single mother was a bitch to your dad? You have had a string of ****ty girlfriends? That due toYOURcrap decision making...dont hold marriage or companionship accountable for that. Your ****ty experiences quite obviously color your current perspective and then, in your boundless stupidity and arrogance, you claim that I am being emotional in my observations.

ARE YOU A MACHINE??? How are younotcapable of having the same emotion??? This is what I pointed out earlier, blind and deluded individuals like yourself who actually sit there and think they're capable of rational decision making...as if your selfish desires for meaningless trinkets makes you rational. Or the fact absconding from any responsibility to anyone else but yourself makes you enlightened. You're literally digging your own grave.

I wonder if many of these people knew, that for all they talk of money and good living...the vast majority of millionaires in this country are couples with long term investments accrued during marriage.

This is what blows my mind.

IT IS INCREDIBLY HARD TO RISE UP THE SOCIOECONOMIC LADDER AS A SINGLE PERSON

Redundancies happen, poor health happens, jobs become mundane. A big part of economic maneuverability is having a support network to cushion any potential pitfalls which often come during transitional periods.

Married without kids and dual income? Yes. With kids or with a non-working wife? Nope.

Even so. It EXTREMELY rare to meet a long term married couple without kids...especially kids are kinda the point of being married. I dont even know why people are suggesting single income families...miscers are so fukking retarded. That **** is unrealistic for a huge chunk of the populace.

I've met a fair number. I also know some who had kids previously but didn't need to make more to feel like they belong together. My gf and I are getting married and have no intention of having kids. Kids are annoying as **** and a huge resource drain. I also know many single income families that do just fine. Then again I live in a great state for that.

The men you aren't attracted to don't count...

Many women who can't get the men they want...live the single life and don't reproduce. Men are often more willing to settle as sex/intimacy is the essence of your manhood and your base necessity...i mean you have men out there killing themselves and others just because they can't get a woman. Women tend to just close up shop, get a few cats and become the main contributors to the tumbling birth rates.

I bet the woman the OP met, just could not get the right man so she gave up and decided that her situation is what she wants. She will change her mind if she meets someone

This is my point. The media and society is contributing to your delusion.

So many women I meet (NOT all) 1. have unrealistic expectations of the men that will wife them up and 2. seem to think that they're all going to luck into an establised dude whose already made money for them to spend. This mentality has always been around, considering women are naturally hypergamous...but this society has taken it into overdrive, especially considering how much aspirational marketing and programming have become ubiquitous and you have things like Instagram bringing the lives of the 1% right to you. Adding to that, it daft. Most wealthy/comfortable people are not celebrities who marry 10/10s who get chosen...they're people from highly networked communities who build their wealth with their spouse.

Essentially a lot of women want to win the lottery...but a lot of these men (those of wealth/stature/good looks) know they dont have to commit and now have greater opportunity to play the field...especially considering these same social networking platforms give people direct access to persons of interest (retweets and dm's...the millionaire rapper/athlete/celebrities favorite). But these dudes rarely wife up the sloots who they **** for free...because why would they? A lot of men (the ones who educated and wealthy/prominent) have spent a lifetime seeing divorce horror stories and because of such, they're marrying less and often marrying within their social bracket.

A lot of women have literally ****ed themselves over.

Your forum name was aptly chosen. Skipping to the above quote where things become more relevant, you have yet to demonstrate how lower marriage/coupling and women working more (i.e. 'the culture you seem to be a-okay with') has substantially contributed to what we agree to be an all around garbage economy. Things were dire during the guided age and great depression when women occupied more traditional roles. I'm more inclined to think that people are just dumb, easily ripped off by the rich and powerful, and only fight back when things are extraordinarily bad as they are becoming nowadays.

Got me there. Although cynical would be more accurate than bitter.

I am not and have never claimed to be anti-marriage/anti-companionship. I just think it's overrated by a lot of people and isn't for everyone. Decent and compatible people are hard to come by, people change, women are fickle, and forecasting the future is neither easy or a science. You can do a lot right and end up with a partner turning on you, getting fuked with child support, etc. Things like that aren't bitterness or baseless fear but legit possibilities to be weighed out. To each their own but I am not seeing partnering up and/or breeding as near universal means to happiness.

lol that sucks. Lots of people on the misc wanna stay single slaying girls but I dont know how many of them actual live that lifestyle. During my single days, i was lonely even if I had a different girl every month and sometimes im not satisfied with my relationship but that happens because i have selfish thoughts. The bigger picture shows that shes great and she wifey material. As you get older, you mature more and realize you want a meaningful relationship with someone that you can connect.

I'll break it down. We are experiencing a demography crises because of a lopsided population. This has likely been driven by the fact that the introduction of women the workforce helped contribute to the fall in birth rates...precisely because women are now finding themselves having to choose between a career and a family. The fact that countries like America have never really had any government mandated protections for proffessional mothers and young families contribute to this problem. This reduction in repopulation rate has led to a massive influx of cheap labour into said developed economies, however these immigrants now accept lower wages, their questionable legal status means many of them are not contributing income taxes and their presence shifts wealth from the bottom upwards. And what happened during the last crash? Many conglomerates were insulated through protectionists policies like "too big to fail" whilst wages were slashed and thus consumer confidence fell through the floor. Contributing directly to the ****ty economy you see. Remember that there are plenty of people at the top who benefit mightily from economic slowdowns, provided they can weather the storm.

You literally have NO IDEA how much your parents decisions contributed to the current problems we face.
Got me there. Although cynical would be more accurate than bitter.

But then, even if you're cynical and not bitter, how can you claim to be making rational decisions??

Here's the thing, none of us are rational. I dont even entertain the idea of being rational myself. Because I am not, and you're not. Our life experiences have directly affected our outlook on life, our values and this discourse. What Icansay is that the data showing the benefits of male-female companionship, marriage, child rearing and the family unit/kinship groups is endless. One man is not an island. You are entitle to your own life decisions, but please lets not start trying to convince the world that one man can be completely autonomous.

This.

Its why I genuinely feel like most men dont get pussy at any regularity. I find chasing women so infuriating and empty, I've started deliberately sabotaging potential smashes. I dont care, call me arrogant, but no one (ESPECIALLY WOMEN) can sit here and convince me that the endless bachelor lifestyle is a good thing for an adjusted individual.

Not everyone fits the mold of the 2 kids, white picket fence.

And unfortunately since most good paying jobs in the US are in cities and cities are expensive to live in, it's next to impossible to survive on one salary. Then add in day care costs and private school costs since our public schools have gone to hell, women almost have to work or you risk going into horrendous debt for her to stay home.

It's easy to sit on a forum at age 20 and say you want to be alpha and the breadwinner, it's another when you're faced with the baby on the way, mortgage, bills and choices. Either wife returns to work, or your kid goes to the public school and gets bullied.
My plan is to work in a high salaried job in the city until I save/invest enough to buy a house and fully furnish itwithouta mortgage. At that point I'll intentionally move somewhere cheaper with a lower salary so I can at least try to make the single salary lifestyle work.

Children should not be shoved into daycare. I've talked to nannys and they tell me stories about how the parents barely spend time with their kids, what's the point in having kids then? That part I agree with. I don't think every couple has to have kids either. Another thing; a lot of parents work two jobs but spoil their children. The single income can work if you delay gratification and save heavily, and also learn to BUDGET. My parents did it, I lived on a budget. What's more valuable to a child - having a loving parent/s raise them OR having the latest Xbox/iPad? In the long run, they'll be so glad you chose the former.

The only way that can change is better protections and support for young families. It should be goddamn government mandated. Thankfully, Trump has shown considerable interests in the area.

It's really sad bro, children bond to the nanny instead of the mother and everyone knows that nannys quit and move on frequently.

What's more valuable to a child - having a loving parent/s raise them OR having the latest Xbox/iPad? In the long run, they'll be so glad you chose the former.

modern day feminism has pretty much ruined them. It's made them think they can have everything with no consequences. Unfortunately with having kids past 35, biology doesn't care about your privileges or your career, you might possibly be using all that money to pay for IVF because you've left it too late.

Also regarding daycare, yes I would take my daughter to play with other kids but no way would I leave her too be looked after by strangers.

What if every woman started having kids after 35 to 40 with IVF. Wonder what the consequences of that would be.

I think in the future there will be no marriage or family unit (das it mane). The government will make women try to make children to sustain population and they will go to sperm banks choosing chad alphas genetics and manipulating everything while the state takes complete control and care of the kids.

Agree with this. In the distant future, marriage in the first-world will become a "taboo" thing that only deeply religious people will do. Gay marriage will become increasingly accepted and commonplace, and eventually only gays and religious folk will have any use for marriage. Marriage among secular, heterosexual couples will continue to decline.

Children should not be shoved into daycare. I've talked to nannys and they tell me stories about how the parents barely spend time with their kids, what's the point in having kids then? That sounds like a good plan of action, to move to a less expensive area and live on a budget.

Nope.

The solution is happening right now.

The mass importation of people from the developing world. Your distant future idea is a current reality. Companies like ******** and Apple are already offering subsidized egg freezing for the female employees. The real battle will likely come in 15 or so years where public health providers and health insurers will start getting told they need to foot the bill for IVF treatment for ALL women. Trust me, its coming.

i honestly see a lot of this happening.. both coupled and single parents will be heavily genetically modifying their kids, but it will be kept expensive, thus leading to a new breed of human who will dominate/rule over their less inclined cousins.
A million miles away - I don't.. feel.... anything.

Yes, when I read about this I had to wonder: do they expect women to freeze their eggs, and then when she is too old to be productive in the office anymore (like by age 50, lol), they expect her to have a baby? OK 50 year old women don't have the energy to care for a baby! That is why menopause happens, because we honestly don't have the energy to run after toddlers when we are 60!

IVF is one of the fastest growing parts of the healthcare industry. My mum is an OB/GYN, and over the last few years a few of her friends have dropped out of Obstetrics and Gynaecology to focus purely on infertility/IVF.

The main risk with IVF is that there aren't any studies into the long-term effects of it since it's so new.

It's cope. Most of them have this unbeatable power in their youth controlling men, act like sloots, bitches etc--not all ofc but plenty--then when they get near middle age they notice all their antics, fussiness and bitchy attitude isn't tolerated anymore because less men want to sleep with them. They put on weight, those years of partying, booze, make-up, Sun, not enough water, lack of sleep catches up and their looks start to steam roll in the other direction.

It's THEN all of a sudden they become humble and want to settle down. Don't feel guilty or sympathetic to these types, they should have been humble when they were in a position of power, not weakness. It means nothing once they lose their only currency they offered. Yet liberal media has this hard-on for middle-age women, making everyone else somehow feel guilty, it's fuking pathetic. If you did something with you life, had substance, a career, took care of your looks, you'd still be somewhat of a desire for many men. Outside of that, well enjoy being a ghost, I hope those 7-9 years of being in the spotlight doing everything else wrong was worth it. But ofc, some just land an office worker and divorce 4-5 years later with kids and get paid off regardless.

OP don't feel sorry. For every requirement a man has of a woman, there's about 10 coming the other way. For every woman feeling neglected for being older there's about 50 men being neglected in their prime. Don't fuking fall for this hypocritical guilt trip bullsh*t.
