Just getting a gut is as easy as just being skinny. Look how many emaciated seniors are walking around.

But putting on weight to be strong is a whole other thing. I wonder if Koklyaev worried about his waist size when he was squatting 682 lbs with no hands?

[IMG]http://i67.tinypic.com/25s4y8o.jpg[IMG]

Who dafuq wants to be all show and no go?
Ever watch the Olympics? Ever check out military training routines? These are just two examples that make my point. In the real world, the more flexible leaner guy is always a morefunctionalall around athlete by far. You strong men can only doone thing, and not even that for long.

There's certainly nothing wrong with being big and strong, but between the two and for general athletic ability, I much rather choosefunctionover brute force any day.

Yes, I watch the Olympics. Mikhail Koklyaev (pictured above) is a Russian National Olympic weightlifting champion among his other accomplishments.

And military guys use assault rifles and tanks. They only need the strength to push a button or pull a trigger. Real fighters look like this:

Leaner/smaller dudes are only good at running away "in the real world". I've seen strongmen enter MMA and do well, you ever see a sprinter do the same?

Functional? You sound like a crossfitter. Being strong is always functional. Notice crossfit champions don't cross over into other sports?

I never said fat guys weren't strong.

On the contrary, they use/need their physicality to survive.

You can be lean and strong too. You don't have to be a big lummox to be strong.

In fact, they're the best all around athletes.

You know that an 8 year old child soldier can kill you with an assault rifle. You only need so much physicality.

Here are those "elite functional" standards:

The strongest in the world only come so lean. "Proportional strength" is a way for smaller weaker guys to feel better about the fact that they can't bang with the big boys.

He can win an eating contest.

Which is why military training is the way it is? You're challenging the experts, not me. If strong man was that important in the field don't you think they would have figured it out by now? I've seen it myself. Those big guys can't even make it to the top of the hill and are the first ones to drop out.

Its been tested so many times I could fill a database. Google best all-around athlete and see how many fit YOUR description.

When it comes to matters of strength and athleticism, you're appealing to Google and popular opinion. I'm sure that makes sense if you still are under the same misconceptions as your average person who has never competed in a sport (or hasn't since grade school, LOL).

Might be. And yet that "obese" muthafukka was one of the hardest men ever to walk the earth. Straight up BAMF.

You don't get a nickname like Chesty by being a scrawny, lean twink. Aesthetics are for show, real men are more "go".

You should try going to the gym. You will meet people of all ages who stay in shape, and the lifting will make you big and strong.

Don't forget mariusz pudzionowski. The epitome of being huge, strong, still fast and agile, and being somewhat lean.

Honestly I have spent my whole life skinny as fukk. I played soccer religiously all throughout college. Even when I started lifting throughout college I went from 155lbs to 185lbs still shredded because of how insane my workload was (plus I grew a little bit still).

The hardest part? Gaining weight. It is extremely easy in concept to bulk, but hard to do. Eating that much food day in and day out is hard af. I am bulking hard again after my little lay off, and it is brutal to keep this up.

Losing weight and cutting? Easy as pie, for me. My body shreds weight and fat like it's going out of style. But for me to put on weight....that is where the real men are IMO.

DS/LS mindset? I'm just not seeing it man. Maybe if I were 250@10%, but I've been much bigger too and I'm just not impressed. Whenever I try to bulk my mid-section just gets bigger and bigger, and I know that's genetic from my dad.

Sure, I could DL more weight but how is that transferable to anything. I think you look better lean, but you've got to do what makes you happy. Regardless of what other people think.

One more thing, I'm not saying you're wrong, but for me cutting is a million times harder. Especially since I've got to time and portion everything I eat. When bulking, I just eat...whatever, whenever. No thinking necessary. Just had to put out that counterpoint, just in case anyone's listening.

We truly are living in a manlet sea.

I see fit people all the time, tho. Srs. Either you are living somewhere with a serious health problem or you are mistaking anybody who isn't scrawny AF as not being fit.

I could never forget Super Mariusz, the Polak Powerhouse.

And das it, bruv. Bulk is for big boys and strength is never a weakness.

You don't know how being strong is transferable to anything? How sedentary and non-physical is your day to day life? I can't see how striated glutes that you can see while naked are more impressive than stretching out the back/chest/shoulder/sleeves of a shirt (which most people will actually see you in).

And if all you have done is dreamer bulk, no wonder it has never ended well for you. That would be like me saying I will never cut because it has bad results if I have only done starvation diets.
