If you were a GENUINE FA like me, what would you do with your life? Feel really lost!

For those of you who don't know me, I will give you cliffs on my situation:

- Prestigious education raised in upper-middle class family
- Interned at some huge firms in banking, oil & gas and corporate finance
- Work as a junior oil consultant (45 hours) making just under 40,000 ($50,000)
- Because i'm FA (genuine FA), I live at home and save 75% of post-tax
- Take home ~500/week; put 375 straight into savings, live off rest modestly
- No friends, no GF, few direct debits, BMW paid off, so have saved about 10K ($12,500) in last 6 months
- Over Christmas, nothing to do, nobody to see, so I just worked for double overtime pay (srs)
- OP can save 20,000 ($25K) cash per year just doing what he's doing if he accepts this
- I live rent-free in a GOAT house (big wall mounted TVs, thermostats, all modern facilities)
- No reason to really move out, just would be a waste of money on rent

But now i'm starting to feel a bit lost. My life is literally work, gym/run, watch TV, eat, go to bed, repeat. Sometimes (these days often) for 7 days a week when overtime is offered and my parents encourage me to take it because "what's the point rotting all Saturday?"

I have 3 main options right now:

1)I make a radical change. Not because I care about the fact that i'm a 25 year old who lives at home, but just because life feels very monotonous. Something like - Moving to a new city, even taking a massive pay cut and not even saving anything, but re-branding myself as whoever I want. A cool cocky alpha Chad who is actually fun, sociable and bangs girls. Make up stories about being well-travelled, playing in the university basketball team and epic things/fails i've done on dates with women that i've read about on Misc threads. But every time I think about this, I can't help but think i'm going to be the same loser, the same autist, the same FA, just in a new city with a more poverty job and no savings just to live this delusion of "independence and freedom" when I could have just stayed at home with amazing luxuries and thousands of savings.

2)The other thing i've considered is just taking my savings and travelling the world for 6 months. Going to Nepal, Thailand, Australia, South America, and climbing mountains, jet ski'ing, going on jungle treks, meeting other "lost" travellers, eating exotic food, riding motorbikes through hills, and just gaining some life experience. Maybe even learn some social skills and have a complete change to life than working 45-50 hours a week over 7 days. But again, whenever I think about this, I picture myself having a GOAT time for 6 months but when I come back, I will have 0 savings, no job, and i'll have to restart life and i'll be in a much chittier situation than just accepting what I do now.

3)Or the final option is that I just continue to do what i'm doing now. Just accept that i'm living; not maximising, but have a much more solid future than anyone I know. Save 20,000 a year or 100K cash over 5 years. Put that down on a solid property. Or 50K over 2 properties. Rent them, use rent to pay mortgages and just flip them until I have an empire. Get an arranged marriage into an upper middle class family, and just accumulate wealth and inheritance to pass on to our children just like my family has been doing for generations. Maybe even retire at 35 and start a small business, and then buy a super car, travel the world, etc. But for 10 years (25-35) have a pretty dull life doing nothing exciting but from 35 onwards, have a truly GOAT life while everyone else who "enjoyed" and "maximised" their 20s is broke and has to work until 70.

Thanks for reading the entire post for those who have. Put yourself in my shoes and be honest, what would you do? Will rep ALL serious advice!

I wouldn't quit your job to go traveling considering you're in a very good position. Breaking 40,000 a year at 25 in Wales is a decent effort - congrats. Does your company have offices elsewhere where that you can transfer to and "start again"? That would be how I'd approach your situation.

Or

Join a local pub football team. Good socialising. Good exercise. And it'll give you something to do on your weekends instead of work.

Honestly OP, I think option 1 is the safe medium you desire. You're not going full retard by blowing life savings, but you are still going to get the life change you desire, just don't be scared to make the jump. Move to some different city in the UK where you can still be responsible with your money while also trying to reinvent yourself. Don't go through life with any regrets brah. Being 70 years old with a whole bunch of regrets is worse than any FA pain you feel right now. Make the jump

Nope can't transfer city, because I got the job through family contacts.

How does one go about joining the local pub team? Do I just rock up to a pub and ask if they play Sunday football? There's a good chance they will be overweight blokes who just go in to drink and get an escape from their home life/nagging wife, not fitter young men but I guess it's worth a shot.

As you can see from above, if I choose to move away, I would have to do so natty in a new city. Which means taking a massive pay cut because i'd be the same as any other graduate but have about 6 months experience. Finding a job wouldn't be difficult, but after rent, council tax, travel, socialising, food, bills, etc on what maybe a 28K pre-tax salary; realistically I wouldn't be saving a penny. Or very little comparatively.

How much better a life would I have just from "moving out" that it's worth losing 20K cash a year, or about 100K cash over 5 years? Srs question

one of his taller stories was making an investment bank a 7 figure profit (or was it 8?) on a trade he did.. as an intern..

I feel like that would be good and bad for me. Good in terms of companionship, but honestly am I anywhere near ready? I can't even talk to women. I have little experience of dating. What's the likeliness that it will last and not end in divorce compared to the equally rich, but social, alpha, aesthetic, experienced guys that she will have been used to dating?

Strong reading of that thread. I said that I did the risk analytics for the senior trader who made that trade. The profit was large yes, but I obviously didn't get to keep it nor did I claim to.

What advice have you ever offered me? You just come across as envious and a hater. You do that in everyone's threads, not just mine. I think you're just a bitter old man... but if you have some GENUINE advice for me, i'm all ears mate...

Why does you getting the job through family contacts stop you from transferring within the same company to a different city? Am I missing something?

Doesn't necessarily have to be a local pub team, but this is all dependent on your ability.

Also, why would you have to rent? 3 bed houses in Wales are ~100K. Just put down a 20% deposit and start your investment in bricks and mortar.

Maybe instead of implementing option 1 straight away, you can wait until a good opportunity comes along, which means you'll have to be actively searching. What if you can move out and have a higher paying job? You could also look into investing what you have already into something?

Set some goals dude. You clearly have free time. Make it a goal to save up for a trip to somewhere you always wanted to go. Make a goal to compete in bodybuilding/powerlifting. Ride a "bicycle". Work towards a large promotion. Seriously dude, there is so much cool **** you CAN'T do if you have a GF or wife. Don't **** up the time you have to do these things with all the free cash you have.

The company doesn't have a nationwide base. They are a consultancy started by a friend of my mother.

If I move away to another city in England for a new job, then I would obviously have to rent, wouldn't I?

I could only start a property portfolio if I live at home and just continue doing what i'm doing. But moving city for work/social life/friends would mean that I probably wouldn't save anything and I would be in the same situation as everyone else who has a 40-year mortgage term and works until 65...

Yes I read thread

Still think it's time to get out there and make it on your own. What are you waiting for?

Buy a place in the next village or town and commute in

Move to a big city with similar industry and get a job off your own back. have you ever lived on your own? What about studying did you move then?

When exactly do you think your life will start?

What's the worst that can happen. You fuk up your parents will pick up the pieces.

also think of quality friends, looking for friends for just friends

I don't know what i'm waiting for, hence why I made this thread

Serious question, what's the point of this? The 20K I save a year will instantly become <5K with rent, council tax, bills, fuel, food, luxuries, etc. What would change in my life so significantly from moving out that it's worth giving up 75% of my savings?

Move to a big city with similar industry and get a job off your own back. have you ever lived on your own? What about studying did you move then?

I could do this, but again it would mean a pay cut. Because finding a job off my own back would mean finding a job as a graduate with a couple months experience. Not being given a job through a family contact. Yes I moved to Cambridge to study Engineering at the University of Cambridge but you live on college campus. So I didn't really "live out".

When exactly do you think your life will start?

35, when I officially have enough to indefinitely retire from the "working" world. I will have property, cash, investments and inheritance to start and run a small cash business. Low risk, medium margin. Travel, do what I want. But working for or enjoying myself NOT for somebody else.

What's the worst that can happen. You fuk up your parents will pick up the pieces.

Why would they bail me out if I make a "stupid" decision (in their eyes) like blowing all my savings to travel the world or paying rent on someone else's mortgage. They could kick me out their inheritance if they wanted. As they would see me as financially irresponsible and give the inheritance to siblings

Do something
I answered your questions in bold

Money making you happy is it? Doesn't sound like it.

Are you so scared of losing a mid income you as a full grown man are stuck living off your parents. You have siblings? Do they all live at home too?

Parents will always be there for their kids if they are needed. I will always be there for mine, but I tell you something if they're still living off me at 25 heads will roll.

Your parents needed to teach you independence and they failed to

I agree with you, but i'm in that classic money-time dilemma.

I have money but not time to enjoy it (apart from evenings). If I quit and use the time to enjoy life, I won't have money (since I won't be kept on in a good paying job with good future saving potential).

Hence why i'm asking for advice of people who have been in the corporate cycle before and thought about getting out; what "balance" would they recommend

Keep doing what you're doing brah, you've got a good life srs. If you want to travel you can do that too, but make sure you do it in a way that you still have your job to come back too. Take some vacation time off or w/e and go to thailand and bang sloots till your nuts fall off. Get satisfaction from other things in life brah, you got a nice car and live in Wales, I heard they have the GOAT driving roads there.

Also, you're not as FA as you think brah, you have a good job and make good money. You're all ready better off than most people. Sloots like when you're confident with who you are, when you stop giving a phuk and stop spending thousands to impress your friends randomly at a club night then you will ascend.

What advice have you ever offered me? You just come across as envious and a hater. You do that in everyone's threads, not just mine. I think you're just a bitter old man... but if you have some GENUINE advice for me, i'm all ears mate...
Yes because that (fictitious) trade was so much down to you that they let you go weeks later.

My main advice to you was to stop lying. Donblaximus and several others told you the same thing. For some reason you decided to tell us houses in wales were 300k. (Just one example). Hard to give advice if we have to spend most of our time working out what's true, half true, and total bullsh!t

It's not making me happy, but it is giving me freedom to retire from the working world. I'm not particularly unhappy with life (because i've accepted i'm FA), just not maximising; i'm content with eyes on the prize - retirement at 35.

I'm not living off my parents though. I pay my own way, I even pay for them for food and petrol and flights and costs for them to go away and enjoy life. I just don't pay rent. Or council tax. The two biggest costs that I would incur IF I moved out.

If I was living in a small home, not earning, not contributing, then I can see why they would have words with me. But I live upstairs, they live downstairs, I pay for most things and still manage to save a lot.

I'm not scared of losing my income; i'm scared of losing my saving potential. Moving away I can get a new job, I know that. But with rent and council tax and having to buy the luxuries I have at home (central heating thermostat, wall-mounted 50 inch TVs, modern kitchen, etc) all my savings would go in day on top of rent.

Do you know that my friends who are dentists and doctors and chartered engineers don't save as much as I do? Maybe not even half. They will work until minimum 50, most likely 65 to claim their pension. By living at home and saving and investing intelligently, I can realistically retire at 35.

I think you are interpreted my post as I am financially dependent on them. That is not the case. So would you still say I should move out and give up my savings just for this magical "Independence"?
