I get that women like confidence, stability, wealth and all of that, but how do I even get the chance to make the interaction in the first place? The only female in my office is a 50 year old accountant. So I can't exactly meet girls at work :/

First off, I definitely wouldn't blow all your money traveling. I'd say invest it in real estate and rent out the houses for extra income.

As far as the FA thing...have you maybe tried online dating or joining a meet up group? I have no experience with online dating but I guess it's worked for some

I am definitely going to invest in real estate, but in order to lower mortgage terms, I am going to save higher to put down a more solid deposit. But I certainly intend to make money through that stream.

I have tried Tinder. I have got matches but I haven't sent any messages. I don't even know what to say. And i'm sure they have thousands of "Hey's" so there's no point me sending that. Hence why I just deleted the app.

Can you aware me on "meet up groups"? Are they basically designed for equally FA people like me?

Why do you need to meet sloots? Srs, I know misc thinks sloots are the whole meaning of life, but that's not the case brah. There are lots of other great parts about life other than sloots. And if you really wanna meet sloots I dunno hit up tinder or something?

Genuinely I don't care about girls that much, I just want companionship regardless of gender. Ideally friendship, but something real which blossoms into a meaningful friend you can trust and rely on, or a partner you can date after getting to know each other.

What I don't want is someone who I make small talk with but we aren't "real" friends. Just acquaintances. I have enough of those at work and sometimes I prefer being FA than that BS.

I would love to have a friend who I basically call "bro", hit the gym with, go to bars with, watch movies with, go for drives with, go to the mall with, gives me fashion and relationship advice, etc, but I don't know how to go about finding that bro...

Even if I get a 40K job in London (not easy, more realistically 30-35 as a grad) but let's break that down.

40K pre-tax takes home 28K post-tax

Rent for something which is more than a shed or a box will be ATLEAST 15K/year

Tube is 3K per year

Council tax is 2K per year

Food, gym, direct debits, a holiday, bills, socials, etc = 8K per year

NOT A SINGLE PENNY SAVED = ZERO RETIREMENT POTENTIAL


Will my life really be that much more fun by moving to London that I will want to do that for 40 years, barely having a 40-year mortgage term and giving up the potential to retire at 35 by being FA and working hard and saving harder for 10 years living at home?

Traveling can be fun but, once you've hit up 30+ countries like me, it becomes a little overrated. Unless you have mad baller money, most of your experiences traveling will be deja vu - make some hotel / hostel owner rich, hit up the local pubs, see some museums and art, beach if it is a tropical country, bang chicks, et al. After awhile it becomes no different than binge watching movies on Netflix.

Honestly I used to be pretty excited for traveling and meeting people but, as I get older, I become more of a hermit.

Yes! I only have a few close friends too now since I cut out all the flakey ones.

Google meetup.com Its a website where you can join whatever groups are interested in the same things as you (fitness, hiking, trivia, social/dining) seems pretty cool. I joined last month but haven't had time to go to any meet ups yet.
I'm in the US so not sure if they have them over there but I'd imagine so

Probably makes no difference, although some countries the young women will view you as an old creep but meh.

If you can save up 400K GBP - I would just find a 2nd / 3rd world country to live in, buy a permanent residency for $100K, reduce your cost of living down to $5,000 - $10,000 a year and live off rental income / investments / teaching English gigs.

My parents don't have a mortgage. If they did, I would contribute towards it. They are happy for me to save and build my own mortgage-free properties now that they've retired and paid off theirs. What's so bad about that?

To me, what i'm doing by avoiding those costs seems smart and efficient, not something you should look down upon.

I've asked you a few times now - please tell me how and why my life would be so much better, more fun, and different from moving out and giving up all my savings than living at home?

Most people would expect their salary to increase over time in London.

In your case though I agree it will probably never go up at all.

Even increasing 5K a year in London starting at 40K, there's no chance I would be able to retire by 35 due to the high costs of EVERYTHING.

Living at home rent-free saving 75% of post-tax 40K with even 2K/year increases, I will be able to; even if it means working for myself or flipping properties or running a small business or taking a large break and travelling after 35.

There's plenty of countries which offer permanent residency (price is in $USD) on business and investment visas.

Colombia, Mexico, Ukraine and Thailand are the bargain countries for permanent residency. Colombia, in theory, you can get in as cheap as $38,000 on a business visa. These other countries are around $100,000 to get permanent residency.


As I said these are the bargain countries and, with exception of Ukraine, they have a lot of opportunities to make $500 to $1,500 USD a month teaching English under an employer or freelancing.

You should be an independent adult. Challenges build character. This is not your home, this is your parents home. You don't bring a girl or mates back to mummy's and daddy's house. At your age that's sad!

By building your own life you get on a learning curve of burgeoning independence, meeting and growing up with people in similar stages of life, new experiences, new friendships, new skills. Shared experiences grow friendships and character

And your parents get their lives back

But you won't. You'll continue to live in your parents house, continue to save your money so you can feel rich.

In regards to option 2, you don't need to do a 6 month long trip. You should do multiple smaller trips which won't break the bank as much.

My parents lives is not affected though. They live downstairs, I live upstairs.

Also, given I don't even have friends or a GF, what's the point renting a house to fictionally call them over? LOL

I agree with you that for some people being independent is worth more than money. But in my personal situation, I will still be the same FA basement-dweller in a rented home that I would be in my parents home. The ONLY difference is that I would be a lot poorer.

Honestly thanks for replying (I have repped you for that), but there really is no real "logical" reason for me to move out. Not at the moment anyway!

No one came to my apartment my entire sophomore year of college, and only 1 guy came to my place this last year, so I wouldn't be sacrificing **** by moving back in with them. My apt is just a place to put my laptop and sleep.

Thanks man. I know what you mean about the apartment being a place to watch tv and sleep. Brb paying for the day rent when most of it you're out working anyway.

Isn't that cost inefficient because of the high cost of multiple flights?

Also that's not really "travelling" is it? It's just a few vacations every 6 months to a sunny place sipping cocktails

I do but they have all moved away or settled with their partners so I see them about once a year.

Not sure about Miscer's in Wales, that could be an interesting idea.

I know and like my cars. Recently I've been kicking myself for not choosing that 2008 Porsche Boxster I was looking at over the 2012 BMW 5 Series that I actually bought.

I would have really enjoyed being a part of and driving on mountain roads with members from the Porsche Boxster owners club!
