I was in exactly your shoes when I was 25 (minus the autism and about half the cash) and I booked a ticket to Brazil. Best thing I ever did.

My biggest regret was not qualifying in something before or training properly in something so I had something to come back to. Trying to start again in late twenties is a b1tch.

You don't have to spend 20 grand in 6 months.... I spent about 12 grand in 8 months and I lived pretty well.

Yeah. In Australia I worked and made $110,000 then Brazil probably about $20,000 and then $80,000 in Australia second time around. That's all pre-tax and pre-spending. I lived the playboy life in Brazil so spent most of it.

Long term jobs though, not really...my cv doesn't look great I'll be honest.Yeah I guess. I sat down for a recruitment consultant (lol) job the other month and got pretty grilled about my time away from work. I think I charmed her but fell short of convincing her I wanted to stay in Auckland and be a rec consultant (lol no thanks).

So I reckon if you spin it right and show passion/charm then the holes in the cv won't matter so badly.

But honestly packing your bags and living the hostel life will do wonders for your introverted ways. I remember my third night sitting in a hostel for dinner on a table on my own almost in tears because I was late eating and most groups had been made. Then one guy shouted for me to join them. Trip did a 360 and went from hell to heaven.

And if it doesn't go to plan then just get on a plane home. Or just get a working holiday visa for Aus/Canada and skip the travelling but, just try living in a completely new place.

Sounds really interesting man. And I am seriously considering it.

But the thing I am most worried about is the idea of coming back and having to accept a poverty job when I was already settled.

As good as my life would be travelling, it would be way worse than it is now if I did quit and move away. I know you're going to say figure it out when that time comes, but I just know it will be much much worse/unhappy.

So I either accept that and the fact that I'm going to have 0 savings and YOLO. Or continue grinding as an FA and have 20K+ savings by the end of 2017 but haven't travelled out of U.K.

I'm in a similar situation as you OP. Here's what you should do:

1. Move out of your parents place.

2. Develop a hobby - gym is good, but find something else you enjoy doing that's not watching TV. Something you can do with others (sports for example) is ideal.

3. Join Tinder/Bumble/OKC etc. to meet girls (much easier when you have your own place) - this part might be hard for an autistic FA but focus on improving your looks (body, hair, teeth, how you dress, etc.), and start with 2/10s until you gain confidence and social skills

4. Try to make friends with people at work. If not possible, maybe look for new job with more people your age.

I was in a long relationship but had no other friends. We broke up, so this is basically what I'm doing. I've thought about doing something like you mentioned but they all come with downsides.

Tell family contacts that you really wanna do this to improve your social skills

They won't back me. For generations they have just grinded, accumulated, got married and passed on the wealth within the family as inheritance.

I will be seen as a degenerate and financially irresponsible if I do that. I will be out on my own, and lose the GOAT inheritance, plus my own 10K that I've currently saved over the last 7 months.

As much as I'd love to travel, financially and retirement-potential wise, it's the worst decision I could make.

I don't live in a toxic household, I have good luxuries, and by not paying rent or council tax, etc, and I would save less than half, maybe 25% of what I save now if I move out.
