its true, ive considered the same thoughts. i like ethnic females, but i am also proud of my purely white, northern and central european heritage. i didnt used to think much about race, but as i got older, i got more interested in it. but even when i didnt think, i knew there was a certain 'line' that would be crossed upon entering a very serious, potentially long term relationship with an ethnic woman. i have thought about, if i had a child, would they also feel proud of their mixed heritage, and even if they didnt, would that be ok, probably yes. they could even be more proud, having more backgrounds to look back on. but ive considered how it would be, to raise a child who did not look like me. when i look to either of my parents, i see myself reflected there. i have friends who were adopted, and clearly this is different - they know they were adopted, saved from a bad situation, and their bond with their parent, while strong, they know it isnt their birth parent - it doesnt impact their sense of identity. to answer your question, would i prefer to be how i am but instead one of my parents was of color, for lack of a better term.. but everything else was exactly the same.. my immediate thought is, i would rather stay how i am. then i think about it, picturing one of my parents just a different race, myself just a bit different looking, hey who cares, it would hardly be different right. but then i realize, i would rather be how i am, after hearing all the racist jokes and comments and stuff people say, even if not directed to me, would make me uncomfortable in a way i guess. maybe i am wrong. and i hate to say it, but i would absolutely forbid and be shocked if a female in my family was in a relationship with a non-white man. they could be friends, but that is where the line would be set.

My counterpoint is that I would rather take the small risk of being someone who commits suicide over the much larger risk of being a homocide victim, or from being such a mental defective that you think that homicide is an acceptable form of conflict resolution.
