Just mortgages.

Had about 10k worth of credit card debt last year due to being a retard in my early 20s. Furnished a home on credit + alcohol and poor decisions while intoxicated. Paid off now though.

In my early 20s I had about 20K in debt and over 10K was credit card. Paid it all off in 6 months and vowed it would never happen again.

Honestly, educators in America don't even cover finances and debt. You won't even get it in college unless that is what you're going for. I'm not sure I'd trust the typical educator to teach it anyways. I'd go as far to say that it is possible there is some kind of global agenda to keep people ignorant in this area because it provides a major avenue of control over other peoples lives. It really is the one thing completely glossed over on your way to becoming an adult.

Have about 5k in CC debt. Bought a laptop, new iPhone when i broke my old one, and had a root canal done. 0% APR until June so I'm not worried about it at all. Can pay it off now but theres no real point atm.

Also have about 340k in mortgage debt if were counting that. Its an investment property and I net about 2k/month off of it so I would classify that as good debt.

Currently about $4000 from student loans/credit card stuff from this month.

Graduated with about 38k in loans
Racked up about 8k in medical bills last summer
Had 8k in car payments.

The past 2 years I have been absolutely aggressively paying off my debts as I want to be debt free by June.......

because I am going to grad school next fall which means I'll be going back into debt another 70k (might only be like 30k if I get a job at the school while attending as they give a massive tuition break, but that is no guarantee)

I agree 100%... I have to stay employeed because of my student loans. I had no education on debt, the effects of debt, and no one in my family did. I truly believe our debt (American) is a way to ensure we become a cog in the wheel.

edit: ironically my plan out of it is this - get into more debt to get freedom?

You avoid paying interest fees by paying off your statement balance every month. Builds credit and I get rewards for using my cc for purchases. It's a sweet deal

Mortgage: 100k
Vehicle: 9K (should be paid off in a year)
Student loans: 50K (was at 95k about 3 years ago after I consolidated and only have 1.25% interest now)
Credit Card: none, pay it off in full every month and get the travel rewards.

No matter what I pay way more on my loans. My vehicle I am months ahead on payments, my house I pay 100 more than I need to, Student loans I pay $900+ when my payment is supposed to be like $150.

I have my mortgage which is around $212k and my student loan which is $18k i think - student loans don't matter that much in Australia.

I'm trying to rent out my property soon though, then buy another within a year so I will probably have around $500k debt.
