When did Pizza Hut go frozen? I haven't eaten there in probably 15 years, but I remember them hand throwing pizza when I was younger.

When I was a kid, Pizza Hut was the gold standard for pizza. A sit down pizza restaurant with amazing pan crust and buttery seasoned breadsticks. When they branched into nearly all delivery, everything changed. Now, they're terrible.

And Papa Johns is also a shell of its former self. Ten years ago, Papa Johns was amazing, then they switched their recipe, started putting toppings above the cheese and simply made a mess of a once great pizza chain.

Laughing hard af at any mention of Domino's being mentioned at all. They've been subpar pizza for 30 years.

I stay with local places now--and for chain, Mellow Mushroom. If you have one in your area, do yourself a favor and check them out. I may order one today for cheat day, hnnnnnng.

And for a straight-up chain pizza delivery, Jets is where it's at.

I like the taste of Pizza Hut the most, but their stores and drivers are always ghetto as ****. I think dining in at Pizza Hut was more common in the 80's/90's, but they are always deserted now and since no one eats in-store today it looks like they no longer feel the need to update the decor or fix broken infrastructure.

Mind blown that so many people love papa johns. Makes me question if it's just the local one here that is terrible. I have had papa johns here even drunk when everything tastes better and still thought it was terrible pizza.

As far as chains go would much rather have little caesers deep dish. Though would still pick dominos or Pizza Hut over papa johns. There pizza is the bottom of my list.

Pizza Hut is essentially "fast food" pizza, in the sense that it's prepared frozen and ready to slap together and send out. That's why you get basically the exact same dimensions/cut/shape with their food everytime. You know exactly how Pizza Hut is going to feel, look, and taste. It's processed big league, much like any fast food chain. It's owned by Yum! Brands (KFC, Taco Bell, etc.) They went after the pizza market and decided to swallow up Pizza Hut, and this is the result.

With Papa John's/Domino's, you can see, feel and notice the imperfections in the dough. The freshness of it. It's certainly not "exquisite" or "authentic" according to pizza snobs (gtfo) but they're damn respectable fast and easy options that taste great.

I've been preaching Papa Johns for years, haters finna hate because it's "poverty" or "fast food" though but in reality it's hhhhhnnnggghh food

Does papa johns give the driver the delivery fee? I use to delivery for a local pizza place and we would get the full $3 delivery fee.

Though I'm not familiar with those little chains you mentioned, you pretty much hit the nail on the head with the way Pizza Hut and Papa Johns used to be. I can remember how the dough on a PJs pie was just perfect and the sauce was just sweet enough to notice but not overbearing. Now they've succumbed to the gimmicks just like PH at the expense of taste/quality. I always die a little on the inside when I see these threads about big chain pizza.

One good small chain worth mentioning is Fox's. If you've got one in your area it's worth a shot.

Corn meal? You thinking of Little Caesars? Don't recall ever seeing corn meal on the crust at Domino's.

Domin's hand tossed is horrible. Their pan is decent though.

When I worked at Pizza Hut, our wings were cooked in the pizza oven, but who the fuk wants to eat cucked over wings like that? Fry those fukkers.

We put the dough in the freezer, but it still tastes good so who cares? I know there are people out there who have a strong preference for one of these brands over the other, but I think they are both good, just different. That hand-tossed freshness of Papa is great, yes, but so is that crunchy goodness of Pizza Hut pan pizza.

Disclaimer: Haven't eaten much pizza in years cause I'm not a fat fuk anymore. A good local shop will obviously floor either of these two, and I know the quality of both have gone down, but to absolutely hate on one of these brands is super snobby. Little Ceasars, Oven Fresh/Georgios, Hungrie Howies, etc are your true garbage tier pizzas that you should be talking chit about.

They started phasing out hand made dough in the early 90s and by the end of 1999 almost all dough became frozen.

I haven't ordered Papa John in over 10 years. Used to be one across the street where I used to live, and every freakin' time, it felt like they never cooked it long enough, and I was eating chewy raw dough.

The only thing I enjoyed was their buttery garlic dip.
I'm not blessed with riches, but I am rich with blessings.
Thank you, LORD, my God.
