BMW 440i hnnnnggggg


















For the past 2 months I was seriously debating getting an Audi S3 but finally got a chance to test drive it and was not impressed as I thought I would be. It looks fantastic in person but when I actually got in and drove it was kind of a let down. Then realized that BMW has all new 4 series out. It looks soo hnnggg. Looked into the price and did not realize BMWs were so fukking expensive srs. This would be a dream car for me that I could actually afford and not be afraid to drive it daily. Thoughts?

Gorgeous car but the B9 S4 is going to absolutely destroy it. You should be afraid to daily drive a BMW if you don't have a second car though

...and still has analog gauges out an e34.


Audi > BMdub all day sun. They really phucked themselves over with the oversaturation of new model trims, especially the M division.

I looked and S3 and 440i are in the same range spec'ed out. S4 is way more. I just need a nice grand tourer as a daily driver. Like a luxury sport don't need anything crazy.

I would never buy a previously leased car or a rental car. Because people abuse the hell out of those cars since they know they are just temporarily using them.

While I agree with your oversaturation point, saying Audi is better is laughable. BMW is far and away top dog in the luxury market right now.

I like the look of Audis more but when I actually test drove the S3 I was let down. Maybe I built it up too much in head. The 440i is lighter, with more power, rwd and you can actually get it in manual transmission. Plus I think it looks pretty nice too.

Debatable. I personally think audis have much better aesthetics than the current BMW designs. And have much better daily driver characteristics. Made the jump from an e92 to a '13 a5 and have never looked back.

I agree with you that I prefer Audi's designs more but driving experience was a let down. I currently drive a rwd 6 speed mt coupe and going from that to an awd sedan with automatic was weird. It felt really clunky. I am hoping the 440i drives the same as my current car but better and with more modern upgrades.

That's fair. I always thought Audi's looked plain, but I can appreciate the classic style they've maintained over the years. I typically prioritize the driving experience, and even the S series (admittedly I have not driven anything too new) felt heavy/clunky to me.

I understand if you live somewhere with harsh winters that a rwd car wouldn't make sense and that an awd audi would be more practical. But it rarely snows where I live and even if does it will snow like 1.5" overnight and be gone by the next afternoon. I just need a comfortable cruiser. Not gonna be driving like a squid. 330hp is plenty enough for me.

Still looks like garbage compared to the other two. Nice fake looking wood there and excessive use of plastic compared to Cadillac and Jaguar using leather wrapped dashboards.

I think it looks pretty good. But what else could I get in the price range? Can't afford the high end models like the S4/S5/RS or the M cars. Plus nothing below the price range excites me either.

Oh yeah, for sure you'll probably experience a downgrade in performance. I'm just not really much of a lead foot, and I find the audi is particularly more comfortable for city commutes.

The 2.0 b8 engines are also very receptive to bolt-ons, and you can easily squeeze another 50+ to the crank with an FMIC, exhaust and re-map.

I'd much rather opt for a base model over the S and save a few g's with a k04 upgrade that'll pretty much spank anything on the road short of an 80k+ euro rocket.

I keep my cars completely stock. I don't race them or anything. I just like sporty luxury cars because the way it feels just driving around town srs.

I like the looks of the BMW. Porsche is more fun to drive and less common. Tesla is also not bad if you're into the whole electric thing. A GT Mustang is also a more humble option.

The Jag I will give you, but if you've ever actually sat in a Cadillac it would not feel the same as a BMW. I am planning on owning a cadillac in the future so no hate... but the interior is definitely not what's selling me.

I think it depends on the type of car if it got abused or not. My guess is most people who are going to lease a German luxury performance vehicle aren't the type that can afford or would abuse their car but who knows.

440i is going to run you minimum 10K more spec'd out than an S3. 440i with XDrive starts at the price of a fully loaded S3.

You are talking about the XE series from Jaguar right? I never looked into them because I heard they were horrible feeling when driving them around. This was years back and I am sure the newer ones are better.
