Nvm you answered. Your doing it wrong. I pay 1.8 for 600 sqft in La Jolla. Barely making 6 figures and I live comfortably. What you spending on food? How often you going out/ordering in?
What's the closest city to La Jolla, and are there sloots in that area?

I NEVER order in or eat out, unless it's sloot flower. I ordered Round Table this weekend, was like the second time in over a year.

Comon dude, this is a miscer we are talking about, my meals consist of protein shakes and self prepared food, weighed, and calorie-accounted for.

Lots of disposable income here, as in could spend another $10k/mo and have plenty left over.

What's it like? I have absolutely no idea lol I don't spend it. Just numbers on a screen that get me excited but still just remain numbers on a screen.

I'll let you know in 10 years after compound interest starts hitting and I start feeling OK to spend more

You have been coming in every money/income related thread for the past few months posting the same exact thing. I am honestly convinced you are mentally ill.

I want these zeros on the screen as well, wish I knew the feels. Dat dere compound interest is the answer once it builds up over time.

How is that even possible. I live in a 1 BR in the bay area with no job, full time student, living off of around 3k a month. And I'm still able to put money in savings and invest. Somethings not adding up.

Brah, it's already been said and known

- mo money mo problems....but ...... no money no problems

Op problem is spending. Many brahs think they know how to handle money but they don't.

People who make lots of money and complain about not being able to save always have stupid ****ing living arrangements. No **** if you decide to get your own apartment in an expensive part of the city you won't be able to afford it.

If you wanna save money then learn to live frugally. If you're going to live at the limits of your means don't act upset when you're perpetually broke.

Get a roommate, get a cheaper place, move to a less "hip" and more cheap city or burb. I have no pity for people who have an expensive living arrangement when they could humble themselves.
You are wasting 40 hours a month just getting to and from work. My time is worth something so I'll pay higher rent so I can get to work in 15 minutes on a bad day.

Honestly you sound a like a jelly red. Coping that you are an adult and still have roommates like a little kid.

Other states-ians, what's it like to have money? What's dat dere disposable income like?Great, I buy whatever I want whenever I want it; mostly just video games and stuff, not a guy of expensive taste.

What's it like to be able to go out on a date every weekend?Meh, could but often don't. Just because I could spend the money there does not mean I want to.

What's it like to own a home with a front, and back yard?I miss my apartment in this regard; I have a pretty big front/back yard and yard work sucks. I just blast both with poison to kill the grass/bugs, keeps me from having to mow.

What's it like to be in an area with a good education system and safe neighborhoods, in case I want to wed a sloot and spawn humans? Can't comment here....

What's it like to do fun stuff on the weekend, not living check-to-check, or cheque to cheque, for you Brit cats?Awesome, can go out with friends and do anything I feel like, usually get a nice meal with a few friends and have a great time.

Aware me on these feels misc.
Live in CA too, but out in middle of nowhere; got a 4 bed, 2 bath 1600+ sq ft house for less than 170k (built in 2005)... I likely pay less for my mortgage ($1000/mo) than you would for rent.

Coalinga, CA; in Fresno County. Some days it literally smells like manure all day... doesn't bother me to be weirdly honest, but that should emphasize how 'middle of nowhere' this is. Worth it though, my work commute is only ~8 minutes.

I mean, it's not that impressive if you don't have bills/obligations lol.

If you don't own and you aren't paying rent, you have a situation most of us can't have, certainly me right now unless I lived in my car but my car isn't big enough. I know you aren't in the military because they don't pay they well, unless you are high in the officer ranks, which I doubt, just because.

debt free, isn't that hard, due to my GI bill my debt is really low, less than 10k. If you own your car, awesome. If you don't have one, that's a personal choice, but a man, they way I brought up, has to have certain things, and like a watch, and a good suit, and car is one of them on my list.

I could, if I really tried, also live rent free and car free (I will be debt free eventually) but what would my quality of life be?

I mean I could live on the street, and make the same money, but is that really the answer? No, lol. The answer is to live a "Normal" life, comfortable, have a home, and be an attractive mate.

I used to sleep in a living room for 400 a month in college, but why should I want that for myself now?

What is your nearest airport?

Is there at least a bar or two within 10 miles? It can't be that bad.

I always take the phrase "middle of nowhere" with a grain of salt because for the average city slicker teen, the suburbs is "middle of nowhere" but anyone who's lived in both knows you can do pretty much the same everywhere, heck the few years I lived in the burbs I got laid way more, and had way more memorable experiences than when I lived in SF, also in my teen years.

You must have no real bills then. I also lived off of pure GI bill for a while, but it's not sustainable long term, not even close.

No car payment (Have car and motorcycle paid in cash)

Savings is measly ($3k), have over $50k in 403(b) ( Put $1,000 in monthly)

No roommates (lol at having a roommate in a jr one bedroom)

Nope, but I put a lot of money (over $12k annually) into 403 (b) and over $2000 in my HSA which lowers taxable income).

See above about lowering taxable income.

I like it, it is quite and a decent small city; not many good looking women though unless college is going, it has a decent college right in town which brings in a lot of younger people during the semester.

Weather can F off though, 110+ and humid in the summer, no thanks, but that's CA for you.

Nope, but I put a lot of money (over $12k annually) into 403 (b) and over $2000 in my HSA which lowers taxable income).

See above about lowering taxable income.
jelly of that 50k in a 403(b) but other than that, eh. I'd take my nice car with payments over my last one what was paid off, just feel it's time for me to enjoy something like that, so I am ok with it.

I don't see how you "blow your money", still put away 1k a month, and still have enough for regular non-bill type expenses though. You must be really frugal in other areas.

money isn't the issue, its your spending problem.

even making 6 figs in a so much more expensive, like NYC, is plenty to get by with.

I dont buy it. Post your monthly budget. You spend 2K a month on rent and you make 6 figure salary and you save nothing? That math makes NO sense.

Pretty much, I don't go on dates (bottle of wine at my place crew), I make all my meals at home. What other non bill expenses do you have?
