I was walking my dog, and as I'm walking down the street I catch my neighbor about 40m out walking towards us, face buried in the phone. So I intentionally see how close we can get without him noticing. It wasn't until my dog was under his nose did he realize someone was converging on him. Why don't women just get a big ass dog and walk with him all the time?? But seriously, that sucks I always walk around not giving a chit, but if a dude with a gun wants to rob me I can't really do chit anyways, even if i was 6'6 300 pounds, so everyone should be aware of their surroundings I guess.. I am comfortable with the arts of the UFC though, I'm fairly confident I can pull off the showtime kick to anyone trying to fuk with me (he has to stand next to a wall though)http://imgur.com/a/2Qqu0

seriously we have the media to blame for this ****. They "skew" the statistics to make 'rape" occur more often than it really does.

BRB a guy raped me cause he locked eyes with me. Media: well another rape case, soon we'll have a 1 in 2 girls being raped at uni

Whoever said that is phucking stupid . If someone is going to attack someone , the would-be attacker will look for someone who has headphones in because they are easier to target because they won't be paying attention .

You should.

It's called situational awareness. You should always plan one step ahead and be prepared for what could happen next. Most women have NO situational awareness and have their face buried in their phone as they walk. If these girls actually do all of this, I'm impressed.

I work in a city and I always watch my back, people I pass, people across the street, cars that stop...it's not being paranoid, it's being prepared. When black thugs are playing the knockout game and more recently, randomly beating white people because they look like they may have voted for Trump, yeah, you better keep your eyes open. Seeing the threat before it becomes an attack is the difference between you being a victim or you making them the victim.

Stay the hell awake.

I agree, headphones in, whether on or not, makes you look like a victim. NEVER walk with headphones/earbuds in, it makes you need like an easy target.

If you must stop to use your phone, but your pack against a wall so no one can sneak up behind you and look up frequently.

If it looks like you're paying attention, that could very well eliminate you being picked as a victim.

I mean I have my headphones in when I mow the lawn or shovel snow but that's about the only time . Having your headphones in , hood up , hands in your pockets or looking at your phone while you walk are huge signs for would-be attackers that you are a prime target .

I agree, but I only am aware when there's no one else around. For example, when I was walking home after midnight from the gym and it was pitch-black. I thought of taking the longer route home where the street lamps were not out, but was too lazy to turn around. Nothing happened (thankfully), but I expected to get jumped that morning.

My girlfriend purposely lives 15-20 mins away from her job so people don't follow her home. She's a Pharmacist and denies scripts that are faked, etc etc.

She prefers to walk with others while out in public. Always parks in lit places, things like that.

Myself? I'll walk downtown alone without a care at 2AM. I mean I'll obviously check my surroundings but I've never really felt like anyone would attack me. Ha

The part in bold makes me rage. All the rest are smart reasonable safety practices but then they do something totally unsafe like wearing headphones so they don't have to talk to non-Chads

I consciously try to make my default mode yellow.
Elevate myself to orange at night or around unfamiliar or shady areas.

You always want to be able to make a proper and controlled escalation of awareness (yellow to orange to red).
Most people who walk around oblivious to their surroundings go straight from white to black and that's where they get themselves in trouble.

Becoming a CCW holder made me much more aware of my surroundings at all times. If nothing else it has made me much safer in that regard to avoid any possible dangerous situations.

Watch this video, worth the time.

If you have to skip, start watching around 6:30 and watch Part 1 and Part 2 of the attacks, with the tips afterwards.

This show is a great training resource. They have every possible scenario with a "right way" and "wrong way" to react.

I'm always on guard scanning, planning, etc. and it comes naturally as growing up I always had bad anxiety and would pre-plan everything so I wouldn't have to face/deal with people.

I often think of my gf and her safety when walking/transiting between places as she's not driving while in Uni. She dresses to conceal herself and tends not to draw attention that way. I know she walks super fast and I know her to be cautious and aware but there are also things, unnecessary exposure, she takes going from place to place late in the evening by herself, say if she forgets something at school which seems to happen often - that could leave her vulnerable.

Also been through s*** where me and a friend got jumped, and heard all kinds of stories about the "real world" most of the misc is unaware and delusional about. S*** does happen, there are some disgusting f***s out there who like to start s*** and harass people because their lives are steaming heaps of s*** and they have no purpose being alive other than to be a s***disturber. Society needs to start taking out the trash, this world is already being overpopulated and yet we have some bullchit moral duty to keep scumbags alive. Humanity is a means to its own end.

Man, one time I was walking alone at night in the parking lot of a bowling alley. Wasn't really paying attention, and I had two sets of headphones in my ears listening to two different songs, at two different speeds, trying to just be as preoccupied as I could, so the walk to my car at the end of the darkened parking lot would be quicker.

All of the sudden this big bearded white guy, had to be almost 6 foot, comes out of no where and suplexes me to the ground, i let out a soft moan, and when i tried to yell for help i realize i had lost my breath and my moans werent audible at all. he climbed on top of me and tore my stringer off one of my shoulders, and made it so loose, it was kind of dangling off the other one, so he could see my bare chest and both of my nipples. I'm still trying to yell for help, but am still out of breath. After the panic of being suplexed from behind wears off, I start to come to my senses and realize this big strong man is trying to tear my leggings off. He kept yelling at me that my quad sweep was crazy bro, and yelling at me that he bet that I squat at least twice a week.

After a little more struggle, he reached down to my feet at the zippered part of my leggings, and rips upwards. SSCHHHHHHHHCHHHH! The rip halfway up my thigh and expose my bulging tear drop. I had just squatted the previous day and was experiencing extreme doms, but the walk to my car had given my just enough of a quad pump for my legs to start to get veiny. My attacker jumped back immediately in awe as he saw my guard shaven quad. I cough some phlegm up and realize at this point i probably have enough of my breath back to actually speak. He stumbled back a bit as I slowly rose to my feet and stared at him straight in the eyes. Uncertain that my voice might squeak when i spoke, I gathered as much courage and confidence as I could, and blurted out in the most alpha tone, "You 'mirin bro?"

Tears started streaming from his face and I could tell that he had found exactly what he had been searching for. I walk over to him and pat his head and give him a soft, flirty peck on the lips, as I whisper a sad goodbye. Never saw him again.

Those must have been some smart females then. I've seen a lot of new age feminism saying they can walk through dark alleys naked and should not have to worry. I don't see it as an issue of woman's rights, rather an issue of prevention. Some guys are sick ****s, have nothing to loose and are extremely horny. Those three make for bad combinations. No amount of educational videos will stop them (some women believe educating men from a young age will stop them from raping) but I just think that the high T plus their situation creates some sick ****s. Every girl should be careful and avoid shady situations. Those robbers and rapist aren't thinking of humanism and feminism when they want that pussy. Same goes for guys, just don't do stupid things. Keep yourself out of ****ty situations.
