This. I don't know why the military effected me in the way it did, but I'm absolutely aware of my surroundings at all times. I generally plan exit routes in my head. And I have a weird thing about not wanting to sit with my back to a door if I can help it.

And I got out almost a decade ago.

Come to think of it I actually do remember a story.. one time I was walking alone at night in the parking lot of a bowling alley. Wasn't really paying attention, and I had two sets of headphones in my ears listening to two different songs, at two different speeds, trying to just be as preoccupied as I could, so the walk to my car at the end of the darkened parking lot would be quicker.

All of the sudden this big bearded white guy, had to be almost 6 foot, comes out of no where and suplexes me to the ground, i let out a soft moan, and when i tried to yell for help i realize i had lost my breath and my moans werent audible at all. he climbed on top of me and tore my stringer off one of my shoulders, and made it so loose, it was kind of dangling off the other one, so he could see my bare chest and both of my nipples. I'm still trying to yell for help, but am still out of breath. After the panic of being suplexed from behind wears off, I start to come to my senses and realize this big strong man is trying to tear my leggings off. He kept yelling at me that my quad sweep was crazy bro, and yelling at me that he bet that I squat at least twice a week.

After a little more struggle, he reached down to my feet at the zippered part of my leggings, and rips upwards. SSCHHHHHHHHCHHHH! The rip halfway up my thigh and expose my bulging tear drop. I had just squatted the previous day and was experiencing extreme doms, but the walk to my car had given my just enough of a quad pump for my legs to start to get veiny. My attacker jumped back immediately in awe as he saw my guard shaven quad. I cough some phlegm up and realize at this point i probably have enough of my breath back to actually speak. He stumbled back a bit as I slowly rose to my feet and stared at him straight in the eyes. Uncertain that my voice might squeak when i spoke, I gathered as much courage and confidence as I could, and blurted out in the most alpha tone, "You 'mirin bro?"

Tears started streaming from his face and I could tell that he had found exactly what he had been searching for. I walk over to him and pat his head and give him a soft, flirty peck on the lips, as I whisper a sad goodbye. Never saw him again.

Women are automatically targets because they are the weaker sex. Rapes are on the rise and random crimes are becoming more common, They need to stay vigilant and honestly, I believe every woman should get trained with a handgun to protect herself and her kids.

I feel like if you are a male above 6'2 then you don't need to worry too much, why would a criminal take a chance messing with you when he could pick a girl or a small guy. I also carry a knife or a gun pretty often so I'm all good

However, you should always pay attention to what/who is around you, and always make a mental note of your exits. I also always sit in corners if possible, or at least against a wall, in view of as many doors as possible

I'm always aware of my surroundings. You'd be a fool not to be. Doesn't matter how swole you are if someone gets you from behind with a gun while you've got headphones on and blissfully unaware of what's happening around you. Then again I live in the hood in the ATL where I've had friends and neighbors robbed and some killed. Don't allow scum to close distance on you if you suspect they're a threat. That's the best first deterrent to not being a victim.

Sure. Having your head stuck in a phone while walking in dark places is never a good idea.My point was that most men (non-miscers) can defend themselves against an attacker. Unless the other person has a weapon. You wouldat leastgive them a fight. That discourages most attackers.

For females, it's different. I acknowledge that I'm weaker than your average male. I can be easily overpowered in a physical situation. I believe this to be the case with most females.

So yes, I still think that women should be more alert - especially when walking alone so they at least have an advantage of screaming/running/hiding etc.

It's good to have some situational awareness in case SHTF. It's more important in new surroundings, especially when travelling. People who don't rely on luck, quick thinking, or other people to avoid pain, death, discomfort, financial loss, etc.

I probably read too many serial killer autobiographies, but there are nonetheless a lot of scammers in this world and a lot of evil. Also just bad luck and disasters.

Examples:
When I travel I don't get into casual conversations with strangers and reveal exactly what I'm doing, where I'm staying, etc. How can that benefit me? And yeah it could hurt me!
When I go for a walk or excursion have I let someone know about it like a text to a girl or just check in at the desk?
When I drive I think about what's the worst that could happen and how to prepare. In Germany it means have a mobile phone, credit card, and roadside assistance. In Northern Canada a safety kit, mobile phone, check road conditions, a blanket, and winter clothes.
When I fly I always count the rows to my nearest exit and sometimes envision worst case scenarios and me crawlin' out. srs
In rooms and buildings I'll think about fire escapes or general escape routes. Note I work a lot on industrial sites, so I'm also trained to know the various alarms and gathering/muster points.
I don't trust new friends or women much until they earn it. Again let people know if you're meeting someone new, don't divulge too much info, don't leave them alone with your valuables, etc.
I get insecure in big crowds and think about moving away or at least the best way out (or to stay in a safe spot). I avoid any rallies or demonstrations (just why?).
