I think it's modern "EDM"

Been listening to electronic music for decades(srs) and the pinnacle was the late 90s and early 2000s with the likes of Pendulum, Sub Focus, Chemical Brothers, and The Glitch Mob.

That was some legit amazing music.

This new stuff with the EDM/drug scene? Meh. Musically, it isn't good. It's more about the drugs and experience than the music.

It's the reason a lot of groups got out of the scene altogether(like Pendulum).

I'll never understand the concept of paying top dollar to see some DJ press play, it blows my mind really.

I actually laugh when I see it, some DJ pressing play and pumping his hands in the air.

Eric Prydz doesnt have a set list for his shows not even his EPIC shows which is crazy... the lighting and visual guys can see what is supposed to be coming up and they might have programmed stuff for that song but a lot of it is done on the fly.

Carl Cox's sets are never the same. Dude has barely had a break in like 15 years.

EDM was my entrance to music (srs)

Although it's the worst piece of **** kind of music led by self-entitled ''DJ's'' who only press play, it allowed me find my music identity by drifting to other genres

in a few words, EDM is just a phase...there will always be kids who like it, but they'll eventually move on/evolve

Just out of curiosity, what kind of music did you produce on FL and Reason? I actually used to do a little producing myself, but now I just mess around on the guitar and DJ a bit
Mainly rap and R&B.

Getting away from that, mainly rap I'm kind of tired of.

Actually was about to buy a bass myself, but car took a **** last Thursday and I dropped about $1700 getting it fixed FML.

So true!

It's so much easier when you have a click track and you get to record a single bar of music 1,000,000 times to find a single track and loop it endlessly...AND you get to do that for every single instrument YOU can't play.

One thing that really rustles me about EDM is this trend of having the DJ/Producer listed as the artist and then not list the actual performers/vocalists at all or list them as "Featuring". That's some bullchit and it's started to infect other genres now. Since the beginning of commercial music except classical music, producers have been happy to sit in the background but now they all want to be front and center.

EDM is largely garbage, but there are some quality electronic music producers out there but you won't see them at big festivals because no bassdrops

Raves are seriously the most trashy thing anybody can attend. I'm pretty sure they've surpassed bars/clubs. I can never respect somebody who thinks that sort of chit is acceptable behavior. It's seriously a bunch of drugged up desperate losers of men and half naked sluts. The music is great, but the festivals/raves/concerts or whatever the fuk they are are deplorable.
