coworker went through exact same thing.

- sloot wife cheated
- sloot filed false abuse claims, they were eventually dismissed due to lack of evidence.
- sloot got free attorney for being a single mom/bro sunk with 9k in legal fees
- sloot got majority custody despite not owning a home + living with new BF of like a month + his mother and some sister or something. Like 8-10 people in a 2 bedroom home/ bro has a 4 bedroom home
- bro losing 1/2 his paycheck due to child support alimony because sloot doesn't want to work .

Its mind blowing no one has taken a hard look at how these cases are handled. Its fukkin insane.

common law marriage is based on acting like you are married not simply living together...calling eachother husband/wife, using the mans last name, telling people you are married... not really about living together. The best way to avoid common law marriage is to put in writing that you two do not intend to be married and instead stay single.

Also to anyone asking how he was taken to court every other week... you can sue for anything. the case does not have to have merit. if you are sued and dont show up, you lose and have to appeal. the sole purpose was just to drain him financially, waste his time , cause him stress and harass him.

that still doesnt make sense for 1. why he could be sued over and over in court. Simply having a good lawyer doesn't mean you will win case after case or even have reasons to sue. You can sue for any reason but details are missing. 2. If he is a highly successful lawyer I don't see him having time to go to court every two weeks and put everything else on hold. If the story was he helped her out and fuked the husband over in court making him broke it would make a lot more sense than going back to court over and over

It will be glorious to see miscers who are for marriage ignore this epidemic and still get married. Only in 10-15 years to get divorced, get raped by child support and to sink in alcohol on a daily basis to cope with that fact that they thought they found the "one" and ignored everyone else's warnings about signing that contract. In all seriousness that sucks. I always tell my clients not to get married again. BUT if you are not married never ever buy property together. Because that becomes a real pain to divide up if you don't have a divorce court available to split assets and someone almost always gets screwed. Also don't pay money on a house that your GF owns and expect to get anything out of the deal when you guys split up. I see that all the time. One guy put up 20k down payment for his long term GF to buy a house, then paid the mortgage for 10 years to be left with nothing in the end when she cheated and kicked him out.
