Statistics prove you wrong as usual. My pits are as sweet as any other breed. Why? Because I'm a responsible owner. Shocker..

So if it's just bad owners do bad dog owners ONLY choose to buy pitbulls? Because if a bad owner made dogs vicious wouldn't all the labs, huskys etc. with bad owners be attacking people as well?
One day scientists are going to kill us all.

This is not a dog issue, it is a parenting issue. Focus on the parents, who are always responsible for the health and welfare of their child. I seriously hope Child Welfare is all over this.

Maybe we can hold people accountable for their own actions, or in-actions.

There's a huge difference between self inflicted accident and accidents that involve someone other than yourself. Next you'll say they should ban sugar too.
Guns aren't killing DEFENSELESS toddlers by themselves. Guns need a person pulling the trigger.
This is absolutely not a gun debate. As a pro gun supporter I'm ashamed you can't see the difference.
If a stray pitbull has offspring and his offspring kill your kid at the park. Who do you blame then? Exact same reason many other types of animals are banned or contained to a region.

The reason why you hear more about pit bulls attacking on the news than any other breed is that it is sensationalist news. In the past, it has been GSDs, rottweilers, and dobermans that were the "crazy killer dogs that will turn on you in an instant". News companies report on things that get people riled up, as it gets them attention. I think the issue is really at the point where they keep doing it just because there is SO much debate about the inherent violent tendencies of the breed. Give it a few years, it will likely be another breed thrown under the media bus.
This can be further proved by looking at news articles about dog bites- MOST do not include pictures, those that do often do not include pictures of the offending dog (I saw one just last week that was clearly labeled 'stock photo of a pit bull' under the photo). There have been reports of news organizations claiming that dogs like BEAGLES and LABS were pit bulls, just to have a story about it.
The media looks for a martyr, the Pit bull is this generations 'dangerous dog' (which is funny, as, like I said MANY of these dogs are not actually pit bulls, just bully-LIKE dogs, if that). If you want some proof about how pit bulls are not blood thirsty killers by default - look up the breeds history. They used to be known as "America's Dog" and were actually extremely popular choices for families and children. They were used in the military (WW1), in the media (Little rascals) and were commonly referred to as 'The Nanny Dog' for their patience, good temperament and protection of young children. Hell, they even score very high on the temperament test compared to most other breeds.

Pitbulls can be GOOD dogs with GOOD owners not the other way around they are inherently agressive.
One day scientists are going to kill us all.

This wasn't the case in the OP, but since you want to branch off into a hypothetical.
Answer: The person who didn't obey leash laws.
People kill more people than dogs kill people,,,,,,,,,so...... ban people?
Personal responsibility <---- This IS the ONLY logic.
But yeah hey instead of owning up to a mistake let's blame________ <--- fill in the blank with any object that will make you FEEL like it's not you fault. smh

You gonna go back decades to find that person? Dogs dont start off in human possession overtime Lol
"Sorry Mam but your child was killed by a stray who comes from a generation of strays and back then there were no such tthings as leash laws....so.....sorry good luck at the funeral!"
Lol at your thinking. People kill PEOPLE. Animals are killing PEOPLE. Are you gonna tell me next that lions and tigers should be allowed to be owned too?
do you get that? Or should I say it again

With the "logic" of banning animals capable of harming humans, you would also be inclined to ban people from living in a climate where the temp can get below 32 degrees f because 15 people a year are killed by icicles, and only 10 a year by dogs. While we are at it we're going to need to do away with anything poisonous, flamable, higher than 18", deeper than 1/4", and harder than nerf.
......And even after all of this a negligent parent will still find a way to blame something for their own irresponsibility.
or
Maybe we can hold people accountable for their own actions, or in-actions.

EDIT: for the record I am 100% for people being held accountable for their own actions, I don't care whose fault it is frankly. But there's just some things that the general public should not be able to own if it puts that much danger to the public. If we treat pitbulls the same way we treat dangerous exotic animals, I would be fine with that. At the end of the day, I would never put my kid near a pit bull or any other dog that I am not 90% familiar with.
If I'm there lol I have a VERY strong kick.
