$11 on Cheaper Than Dirt. As you can see, not much to get in the way in a holster or anything else.

Depends who you ask. A lot who ought to know will say (right handed) to hit the slide release with your support (left) thumb after inserting the magazine. Given reasons include basically no possibility of riding the slide forward, less total movement/should be quicker, no worry about using a stupid gun that can be put on safe or something weird when you do a hand-over slingshot grip.

I switched from hand-over slingshot to support thumb slide release after being presented with the option and the reasons. There are some benefits to slingshot, such as, not all pistols HAVE a slide relese (I used to have one that didn't), so your 'muscle memory' won't work there. On some pistols I could see the slide release being small or otherwise easy to miss perhaps maybe?

Yeah I'm totally with you. I always just hit the slide release when possible. In training though I've always been told to use the overhand slingshot method though, might be just because all the instructors are from the 80's... I don't know. Hitting the slide release just makes so much more sense to me and has never caused me a single issue - aside from instructors yelling at me to slingshot it.

I instinctually slingshot it myself, but every now and then I will hit the slide release.

I had an oem extended slide release installed on my 17 for a very brief time. The problem for me was my slide kept locking back halfway through shooting. If you ride your thumbs close to the slide it can engage the slide lock prematurely. I switched to the Vickers slide release and never looked back

So depending on how you grip your glock,it might not work.

High thumb grip causes slide not to lock back at times crew.

Fuking this. Having a hell of a time retraining my grip to keep my strong hand thumb off the slide. I don't have big hands, but that thumb rests right on the slide release if I'm not paying attention.

Also would be advantageous to switch to using the slide release if you plan on putting an optic on a pistol. I would imagine the slingshot method wouldn't work very well with a red dot in the way.

Pls tell me some of your fukers pay attention to the UFC.

Yoel Romero started a Gofundme for Mike Bisping (LMAO):

https://www.gofundme.com/michael-bis...tirement-party
This is Mike, he will be needing money to survive after me and him meet in the octagon approximately May of 2017. He is happy in this picture after defending his title against another fighter and the devastation he went through has caused him to have surgery on his knee where all the visible damage was on his face. This surgery has prevented him from competing in a timely manner. After his fight with me, I am convinced he will need this money to rebuild his life, he has a family and I am deeply concerned for him. Please help any way that you can as all funds will be used for medical expenses and his retirement party. Thank you for your time and #ynuevo

I'll have to check all of invoices but im closer to 1300 for entire build(including optic+rings). I've used the PRS before and its not worth the $$$ whats so ever. other than if you're scope is mounted high as fuk (dumb af). (nitride bcg is also waste of money for your purposes).so basically you paid alot of extra money for your rifle to look cool. nothing wrong w that but you could have saved alot if you ordered BF/CM

do you feel it was worth it going w the SLR rail over the Aero version? i can't see why you wouldn't just buy a complete upper
Read my post. I'm $400 into a $1600 build, and all I have at this point are the receivers/receiver kits. I want the Nitride BCG for ease of cleaning and blackness. I want the SLR rail because I don't like Aero's rails and If I'm putting this kind of scratch into a rifle I want it to look a certain way. You probably saved $400 in the stock/rail compared to my build, and I don't know whether the Aero complete uppers come with standard or premium BA barrels.

If you can't see why I wouldn't just buy a complete upper, it's because I wanted a specific rail on my gun.

They're all plenty durable enough to rack the slide off the front the optic.

If you are really concerned about the slide locking back you can put extra power mag springs in and it'll make it harder to ride the slide stop. Bob Vogel does this for IDPA guns because of their stupid rules. On some he even cuts the slide stop off.

Slingshot. Always slingshot. Optics make it easier. It's a slide STOP not a Slide RELEASE.

If it's glocks we are talking about, Glock is very clear that it's a stop and not a release.

As for technique, Yea it's mixed.

Some people with some pistols can't reach the slide release with their weapon-hand thumb in the firing grip, I think?

ETA: For me I think I get the timing down easier using my support thumb, as in it's easier for me to **** up and drop the slide early when a different hand is dropping the slide vs running the magazine in. I don't know if it's really a factor, but support thumb is used to hit the bolt release on AR's and whatever else on a reload too, so it's the same basic thing and consistency is good eh? I'd rather use my weapon thumb to release the slide than do the slingshot though, still faster I think, and can't ride it

I go back and forth. Sometimes on my P30 I use the release. Sometimes I slingshot... mostly because the 92 doesn't have a release for lefties, so I always have to slingshot.

I do both. I kind of laugh at the main argument for slingshotting though. Pressing trigger? Fine motor skill. Pressing magazine release? Fine motor skill. Pushing down on the slide catch? DON'T DO THAT BECAUSE YOU'LL HAVE DECREASED FINE MOTOR SKILLZ UNDER STRESS.

It depends on the gun. On some it's easy to use, but almost impossible on others without slingshotting.

I'd rather use my weapon thumb to release the slide than do the slingshot though, still faster I think, and can't ride it

It works perfectly as a release, whatever they call it.
Always use my glock slide stop as a slide release, never slingshot cause always afraid of riding it back and not chambering fully. if i had to guess tho i would agree with you that the reason they use support hand is so that you dont have to reset your grip after you move it to manipulate the slide release, particularly on something like a glock where its a pretty small lever and a square-ish frame. I have decent sized hands but i still have to move my grip if i want to use the slide release on my 21 with my strong thumb.
