Buddies dad had an AR-10 and it scarred me tbh. Thing would run in 3 round cycles. insert mag, charge rifle, bang, bang, bang, jam, remove mag, reinsert mag, re charge the rifle, repeat. sent it to a gunsmith and got it back, same thing. Not sure what the issue was, maybe he got it fixed i dont know, but it didnt work the couple of times we went out and after that i always viewed them with a stigma.

Bit by the "the customer pushed the button so he's the one manufacturing" angle.
https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/...-to-41-months/
A Sacramento, California, man was sentenced Thursday to over three years in prison for unlawful manufacture of a firearm and one count of dealing firearms.
Last year, Daniel Crowninshield pleaded guilty to those counts in exchange for federal prosecutors dropping other charges. According to investigators, Crowninshield, known online as "Dr. Death," would sell unfinished AR-15 lower receivers, which customers would then pay for him to transform into fully machined lower receivers using a computer numerically controlled (CNC) mill. (In October 2014, Cody Wilson, of Austin, Texas, who has pioneered 3D-printed guns, began selling a CNC mill called "Ghost Gunner," designed to work specifically on the AR-15 lower.)
"In order to create the pretext that the individual in such a scenario was building his or her own firearm, the skilled machinist would often have the individual press a button or put his or her hands on a piece of machinery so that the individual could claim that the individual, rather than the machinist, made the firearm," the government claimed in its April 14 plea agreement.
Under federal law, it is allowed to manufacture your own firearm (even with a CNC mill), but it is not allowed to do so for others without proper licensing.
In a Thursday statement, Special Agent in Charge Jill A. Snyder, of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, said that Crowninshield "owned and operated a machine shop where he allowed customers with unknown backgrounds to use his machinery to unlawfully manufacture firearms for profit. That activity posed a very dangerous threat to the safety of our communities."

Also, Magpul MBUS flip up sights or MBUS Pro's are gonna be good for what you are looking to do. Although I dont think that Magpul handguard you bought is going to work on the AERO rifle you bought. Your rifle doesn't have a front sight base that the handguard needs. Thats why a few people just told you to get some kind of freefloat handguard, like an Aero

That's made for use with the A2 front sight (that triangle towards the front of the gun) which that Aero you posted doesn't have. You need a free floated handguard with a rail on top or something so you can add the front sight post to it. The magpul handguard isn't as good as a free floated handguard anyways.
Longer distance shooting is really fun, you can get a cheap red dot and magnifier for pretty cheap. Don't have to be a sniper but it's fun to shoot chit farther out.

I would recommend the Samson Evolution. Very solid rail. I have the Rainier version on one of my Spike's and it has been great.
http://www.samson-mfg.com/product/KM-Evolution-15.html
Make sure it's long enough to cover the gas block. For a mid-length gas you want at least 9", and more likely 12-15".
The only other maker I know of who uses the standard barrel nut is Troy, and you don't want that.
The stock is no problem, it just slides on. Make sure you got mil-spec and not commercial spec for that Aero.

So far all Russian or USSR-type country's steel case ammo I have looked at was not only steel case but also had steel in the jacket, which matters to a lot of ranges (as in a lot of ranges don't allow ammo with steel in the jacket). The tula I am aware of all has steel in the jacket as well as using steel cases

Steel core .223/5.56 isn't something you have to worry about buying, wakaa. If you buy an 855 or SS109 it may have a steel penetrating cone that is not really steel core but some people call it that, but steel case stuff like Tula is just the case and the jacket and the main issue is the steel in the jacket sparking when it hits backstops or rocks so ranges don't always allow them. Ranges often won't allow M855/SS109 stuff either, especially indoors.

Just got the Viper in. Really trying to keep myself from duct taping it to the slide and going to operate. Can't believe I didn't do this sooner. It's going to be so sweet.

If you want to support a dirt bag named Steve Troy you can find an Alpha Vtac rail cheaper. No other rails use standard barrel nut. Aero sells a complete AR with front sight block for the same price as that oem, you should have just bought that at your experience level and price consciousness. Cancel the order and just get that base Aero with FSB if you can.

You can either get that troy industries which clamps over the barrel nut that's coming on your rifle, or another one that does, or get a BAR nut and then you can get any handguard that mounts to a BAR nut and have a gunsmith do the swap for you, shouldn't cost much at all since it's a very simple procedure for a gunsmith.
