What do you guys think about overtraining?
Is it a real thing or am I just being a little bish?
Someone told me that if I want to get stronger, then I have to train harder.
I wanted to get my DL numbers up, so I started doing exactly that. On Saturday, I did 3x20 DL at 255 lbs. On Monday, I did 2x5 DL on 275 lbs, then 1x5 DL at 300 lbs. The next day I did deadlifts again and I could barely do 5 reps of 275 lbs, and I wasn't able to do 295 lbs DL.
Is that overtraining or what is that?

Fatigue =/= over training
Not fully recovered =/= over training

It definitely exists, and you need to be aware of it as a natty
The problem you will usually face is CNS recovery rather than muscle fatigue, meaning heavy compounds can easily be overdone, things like rear delts, biceps not so much

I think what you're describing falls under poor programming. Your workouts should be intense, not just loads of volume to make up for lack of intensity or loads more volume with said intensity.
August 2023:
BW: 194
B: 315 x 3, 225 x 14 (PR: 335)
S: 315 x 2, 225 x 18 (PR's)
DL: 405 x 1 (PR); Trap Bar DL: 405 x 1
OHP: 185 x 3 (PR), 135 x 16
Chins: 22(PR) Pushups: 83 (PR: 101)
1 Mile: 6:45 (PR: 5:52)

Of course it exists. You need to be more careful about over doing it as a natural. Lower volume, frequency and intensity if you're cutting. Increase it if you're bulking.

the problem is guys who have been on juice for so long actually start telling nattys that overtraining isnt real.
if your natty, you need days off to recover.

I wouldn't deadlift 3X a week.
I'm training for a comp right now and benching 3x a week, squatting 2x and deadlifting 1x. I'm training for strength, not sure what your goals are OP

I squat 3x a week, and Bench/OHP 2-3x/week depending on which one I'm targeting. I'm also training primarily for strength, but for some reason I just said phuck it yolo and wanted to try deadlifting more.

There is a difference between overtraining and under recovering. Overtraining is real but very much a true CNS issue. You are more than likely under recovering

"Train harder" translates to 'train smarter.' Sometimes, training smarter is much harder than certain individuals' subjective opinions of what it is to train "hard." As far as bodybuilding/weightlifting goes, it's simple: train smart - get on a beginner bodybuilding/strength-training/power-lifting/whatever routine and stay consistent and listen to your body. Eat right. That's really all there is too it.

Not hating on Pete Rubish. He's a great lifter. And he was honest about the effects of peds which I can respect. I believe my post is within the rules, if not I apologize.

If you train past your limits, like your suppose to, you shouldnt train the same muscle group for about 72 hours.
