After the first time, the next time something similar happens you care less and deal with it better/faster... I speak from experience. I was down maybe even depressed for a long time to the point even my mother didn't recognize her son anymore. She broke down and told me she wanted her son back. (dated/rs for 8ish months)
Now I look back and laugh at it.. how I was feeling over a bish that didn't even care if I would drop dead. Later on after I recovered the bish texted me "merry christmas" I replied with 2 words and left it at that. Guess what? She continued to send texts for a bit even asking if I had a new gf. I don't care where she is in life and dont think about her at all.
Also talking to a new girl now. Gotta go through the process.. every man does you'll come back more solid.. stronger!
I almost failed my final internship to finish up my education because of feeling so ****.. Luckily I made it.. and so can you OP.
