I think Americans use iMessage, they always talk about blue ticks and green ticks, didn't even know about that shyt.

It's weird since outside US everyone uses WhatsApp, including Australia. I'm not even sure why, since most Australian plans have unlimited texting.

Yeah but not everyone has an Iphone, so what are the Android users using? It's fukin weird that they aren't using it, like it literally baffles me. Whatsapp is literally life at this point, I barely even text.

Wait they dont? Wat. Whatsapp is the GOAT. Free image/text/voice/video messaging and video/voice calls. I don't understand anybody who DOESN'T use whataspp. Literally all you need is internet, no reason for texts/minutes anymore just get all Data.

I use it when I travel abroad. It's a pretty sweet app, but most American cell companies have free texting anyway so there's no real point

We mostly just use whatever SMS app comes with the phone

Can you do group chat's in iMessage? Can you switch SIM card and # and keep your same account? Can you see when someone was "last online"?

Whatsapp also compresses images and videos and u can make WhatsApp voice calls.
Whatsapp also sends your location really nicely as well as contacts.
You can also setup separate notifications on Whatsapp, in this way I keep most of my bullchit personal stuff on Whatsapp or FB Messenger with less notifications, then leave my iMessage for business/family.

The only reason I see anyone using it to communicate with their families and friends overseas where jackass companies like to charge a ton.

But I stopped dating au pair's so I havent seen anyone use it in years.

Everyone has unlimited texts and calls here too but thats deadout, texting is slow AF, whatsapp is damn near real time messaging plus you get the benefits of sending pics/vids/voice clips and being in a group chat. I literally keep in touch with like 20 different mates around the country just by being in a whatsapp group, you guys are doing yourself a disservice by not having it. Get with the bloodclart times

My experience when I lived in Germany was that WhatsApp was useful because you could message people no matter what country they're in. The USA is so big that everyone you know lives in the same country so regular texts or iMessage work without extra fees.

But that's just a wild guess. There is literally no reason for me to use WhatsApp when I have texts, iMessage, ******** messenger, and Snapchat to talk to my friends and family.

my texting is instant without wahtsapp. we have group chats and can send pics/vid/sound in a text with our phones native text apps.

the only time ive ever considered using it is when traveling outside the US, to text family members who are in the US.

******** messenger does all of the things WhatsApp does, and everyone I know has ********. Why download an app for the same functionality that no one here uses?

I have unlimited texts, unlimited calling.
Texts already send instantly/real time.
I can video call
I can text video and images.
I can group text and group send video and image.

So other than talking to people outside the country, what would I need whatsapp for? Because no one praising WhatsApp has listed anything it can do that I can't already do without it.

unaware that usa didn't use whatsapp... Def prefer it to texting. It's instant, can see the person is online and typing, see their lil profile pic when talking, just feels more personal.

whatsapp is not popular in australia at all. it has one of the lowest user rates in the world.

Is texting not instant in other countries? It's instant here. Also I can see the other person typing, also can show when they read the message if they have that option turned on.

Most the time though I would prefer people not knowing if I'm there so I have the choice of not responding without the other person knowing so they can assume I'm busy instead of ignoring them.

People use it in America. My friends still use Whatsapp for the group chats because people have Androids as well. I can see where its functionality makes sense in Europe.

I don't know what American messaging service is like so I guess I can't properly critique, if it can do everything whatsapp can then fair enough.

And to the guys that say they use ********, I fukin hate the ******** messenger UI and just overall feel, whatsapp will always be GOAT in my eyes

Screenshot what it looks like plz, I'm genuinely curious.

Texting takes like 2-3 seconds to send a message, whatsapp is instant

Not exactly no or at least it doesn't feel like you're connected to that person when you're texting like whatsapp. It feels more like a messenger than texting. That's the only way I can describe it.

Although, what you say about not wanting ppl to know you are there is one of the downsides to whatsapp actually. Heard lots of relationship/dating drama about people seeing the message and not responding or being online and not responding etc... Texts are easier to negotiate when it comes to things like that lol

I see. Never actually used a group chat, although I know people who do.

Also, as a side note I read Whatsapp marketing is a thing now so it must have a decent member base.

Whatsapp has a billion+ users, more than FB messenger which has like 900 million

Whatsapp literally just added the 24hour story feature to it basically copying snapchat.
