95% of people I text have iphones
The other 5% are my parents
Whatsapp is only of use to me when I want to talk to people in other countries, and that is for them, not me. IDGAF about my data usage, phone bill is expensed through work anyway but it's not like it is expensive.

It's true, I only use it with other Israeli people or other foreigners. Most American brahs don't have it.

Honestly it's a pretty pointless app (and a huge waste of space too) if you don't have international contacts. Wtf would you need Whatsapp for when you have unlimited text and calls, especially considering that Whatsapp provides those two services using data which isn't unlimited.

Oh and I also hate how Whatsapp compresses the furck out of images/videos.

Like I said, the majority of plans in Australia are unlimited texting as well. Yet for people in their 20s, pretty much everyone I know uses WhatsApp.

I'm not exactly sure why, since the app got huge popularity in countries with expensive texting, but Australia isn't one. I think it's just because of the consistency if everyone uses whatsapp, and people set their own profile pic with WhatsApp so you don't need to save a contacts pic.

Texts aren't instant anywhere. That's not how SMS works.
Sure texts usually get there in a second 99% of the time but it's not like America has different texting. Network delay is a thing and it's usually only a few seconds if it happens.

Also texts delivery reports only tell you that the message reaches their phone. It does not say the message has been read. MMS has delivery reports and read reports features but the client has to turn it on.

WhatsApp is good for that alone. 1 tick msg delivered. 2 ticks msg received. Ticks turns blue means message read .

Also VoIP chat and video chat and filesharing, location sharing, audio clips, etc.

Seamless data to WiFi crossover. Can chat if you have no phone signal somewhere.

Group chat rooms . Sending a text to multiple recipients is not group chat.

We should have a misc WhatsApp group

So these *******s were lying to me? lol. They had me thinking there texting was a complete whole different system lmao...I was wondering how the fuk they had instant SMS. This is why I emphasized 'real time' texting.

And das it mane, let these yanks stick to their poverty SMS, might aswell use Nokia 3210's.

It's cos they're yanks they don't know what their talking about. When we had smartphones here they were just getting that razor flip phone lol.
Because USA is huge it took a long time for mobiles to take off, because for a long time they network coverage was terrible.
Not to mention they have different competing network systems. I don't mean like different like Vodafone vs ee.
I mean actual different system. Imagine if we had gsm and then had another network too lol.
That's why you'll often hear them saying stuff like "yeah bla bla bla because I'm on Verizon".

With WhatsApp you can link the account to your PC or tablet and chat without your phone.

oh no, our texts may take 2 seconds instead of traveling at the speed of light! whatever system whatsapp relies on is also subject to network delay.

I don't think you realize how fast/instant we text each other. It's just not as fluid, neither is ******** messenger tbh. Do you though. Once you use it you won't look back I bet

Seems to be mixed reviews in here, a lot of people sayin' they don't use it but some do. Whatever the case may be, I suspect you guys are behind because everyone has it here and has had for years.

Do you Eurobrahs use Whatsapp because your text/call plans only cover text/calls to people in your country?

Ameribrahs have unlimited text/calls to everyone in the states (and I think Canada too), and the US is huge so if you have friends from California let's say while living in NY then you have no problem. And chances are most of your acquaintances are from a different state not a different country.

But in Europe I'd imagine you guys have friends in different countries so if your plan doesn't cover all of Europe you'd need WhatsApp.

I'm with AT&T and I have a 20gb family plan. I am happy with my service and don't plan to switch over to poverty Sprint and T-mobile. Verizon is way too expensive for a minor jump in coverage. Not worth it since my coverage is fine wherever I go.

I do not have an unlimited data plan. What is the point when they all throttle your data speed.
