tbh I don't really care about the long run. All I care about is having my hairline intact through college so I don't look like a **** trying to fuk these 18 year old college sloots. Literally 6 months ago I had a awesome hairline and got compliments on my hair ALL the time by sloots. Now I wear a hat all the time to hide it bc it's gotten chitty

anyway, my personal story:

- at age 19 noticed i was starting to lose hairs, btw i was the type to make fun of people who said they had sides and told them it was in their head;
- hopped on fin 1mg daily for 1 month, then switched to 1 quarter of the 5mg pill every day/EOD (due to it being way cheaper).
- noticed halting of hairs falling out within 2-3 weeks and parts of hairline looking thicker (i probably noticed effects so fast because i took fin basically within 1mo of noticing hairloss);
- no sides for the first 2 months - if anything, noticed stronger erections (initial rise in test due to a-5 inhibitor blocking conversion of Test to DHT);
- after 2 months, noticed puffier nipples and less frequent and slightly weaker erections; only felt the need to fap once weekly as opposed to daily/EOD as previously; also, to get hard i had to physically touch myself (couldn't get hard via thought/looking at porn alone). got an ultrasound on nipples which confirmed presence of gyno (albeit, very minimal and not really noticeable with the naked eye);
- after 3 months on fin noticed NO MORE morning erections at all, which is a big problematic sign, because this can't really be said to be in one's head.
- after 1.5 months more on fin, still with no morning erections, i stopped fin all together;
- after 1 month OFF fin, morning erections came back, increasingly more frequently, and so too did the urge to fap and not having to touch myself to get hard;
- at the same time, i notice hairs starting to fall out again. doesn't bother me now though, having been through those sides.

all that being said, i might be one of the unlucky 'x'%. i used to tell people to **** off with their sides, referencing whichever scientific study. then i realised that not all studies are done well, and also may be paid for by companies with conflicted interests, so to speak. the most famous relevant study puts people suffering sides to be at 0.6% or something; but, many people, including doctors, will say this figure should be larger. ive been to 3 different doctors regarding this. one said its a harmless drug and should be fine, but the other 2 warned heavily against it.
Do you think that your sex drive and libido could have been changed to normal if you took an AI that prevented estrogen?
Gyno is caused by an increase of estrogen in those certain receptors and it's common knowledge that if you take finasteride that your estrogen can increase as well

my thoughts exactly. i made a similar post a while ago in the hairloss thread but no-one really responded to it. even tried to go to the GP to get a hold of a certain AI (dont wanna get banned), but he wouldn't prescribe it simply because it wasn't in the protocol, although i could tell he was thinking about it.

in the end i figured it wouldn't be worth being on an AI AND fin long-term - i.e. to try something that hasn't been tested/recorded before - to try and retain hair. could barely find anything about it online either.

edit - here it is:

Finasteride --> 5-AR Inhibitor --> Stops Testosterone converting to DHT;

Causes initial spike in Testosterone as it cannot convert to DHT; as a result, there is more conversion to estrogen.

--> then T drops as it is converted to Estrogen; --> spike in estrogen.

there is now a rise in the [estrogen:testosterone] ratio, compared to the previous ratio where there was no 5-AR (fin).

--> E:T ratio is highly related to libido/erectile function.
--> Rise in E can also cause gyno.
> both of these are the 2 main sides of 'taking fin', and are the most scary.

So perhaps the problem isn't the lack of DHT as much as it is the rise in E and the resultant effect on the E:T ratio.

Possible solution? --> whilst on Fin, take a low dose of anti-estrogen (won't mention specific doses/names as I don't want to be banned) to ensure that the E is kept to what it was before taking Fin.

> of course, there might be worse sides in taking an anti-estrogen long-term (i.e. throughout the duration of taking fin), which I haven't looked into thoroughly.

What do you guys think of this?

I will also discuss all of this with the top endocrinologist in my city when I have enough money.

edit: and furthermore, similar to younger people taking steroids before their hormonal system is fully developed, or even fully developed individuals taking steroids for extended time periods, there may be a similar effect here upon the HPA axis, which would explain long-term sides even after the use of fin is stopped, which would also be very hard to reverse.

Tough to say. You ARE balding, no doubt. You can tell by the miniaturization of your hair on the hairline. You can probably get some of it back with fin as it's not too far gone.

I had a bad experience with fin, but I don't advocate against it.

Thanks bro, like I said, my hair used to be a NW1 at the maximum about 6 months to a year ago so I know for a fact those hair follicles are still dormant and not dead. I can even still feel the peach fuzz where my hairline used to be.

I'm the opposite. My hair loss has been going on for about 10 years. Started getting noticeable to me about 5 years ago. Now I just shave it. Still wish I had hair, but I'm still decently attractive with a shaved head.........my mom says.

2. I've been on fin for 17 months, no sides at all and loss is stopped, got some regrowth too

I say it's worth trying, it's super rare to get sides which persist after stopping

I went from a NW0 to a NW2 in 1.5 years and I've been on finastiride for approximately a year and I've stayed at NW2

No side effects. I have a girlfriend and I ****ed her 3 times Sunday morning.

Be aware though some users expernce side effects.

My advice would be to start at a low dose every other day and increase it every few weeks until you get to 1 mg daily.

Your welcome

Been on fin for over a year, had some regrowth and it seems to have slowed the loss.

Just know that certain supplements you run will cause you to lose hair even if you're on fin. It inhibits the conversion of test to dht, but if you're putting certain things into your body that don't need to be 5-ar reduced, they can still fck your hair to shyt.

Also, fin + your current regimen is not a good idea (so I've heard) and can actually speed up the balding process.

Yeah I forgot to mention I'm taking .5mg every other day, sometimes every 2 days. You don't need to take this drug every day its just a waste of money and the difference between .5mg and 1mg isn't much.

Yeah I've stopped my regimen and messaged my trainer that I will be quitting it.
Going back to 250 tasty juice per week only and nothing else and going to take the finasteride at 1mg daily starting tonight.
Who knows maybe I'll still be able to gain about 10lbs or so as long as I stay on point with my diet because I'm only 170 and 5 foot 9, I personally think I can get to a nice lean 180bs with that.

Do you think I should quit minoxidil too? I've been on it for two and a half months now and tbh bro these two months have been the worst hair wise, my hairline has receded more these two months than it took in a year.
I heard minoxidil can make you shed but I've heard nothing about it making you recede, and I know I didn't react very well AT ALL when I tried it for my facial hair, like my skin was legit flaking off.

You can most likely get away with drinking more tasty juice if you're on fin. But I use minox too, haven't really noticed shyt tbh. I'm also on accutane atm and I think it's making my hair dry and thin, but apparently that stops once use is discontinued.

Oh yeah trust me I know, and if need be I can always up the fin dosage to counteract more of the tasty juice nomsayin m8

I believe now the actual plan will be to simply take 1mg of fin and the amount of what I said about the other supplement, do that for maybe two months and assess from there. If all goes well then I'll up both and see what happens.
Will drop minoxidil for sure because I honestly think it isn't working as most of the people who have the initial shed only shed for 2-3 weeks tops. I've been shedding for over two months AND have receded because of this chit.

Also on a side note, I have been taking like 5g of pumpkin seed oil, and like 2g of saw palmetto every day as well with my current regimen and Pumpkin Seed has been known to have similar qualities to finasteride so maybe that is making me speed up hair loss as well with the current regimen so I'm going to keep the pumpkin seed oil, drop minoxidil and saw palmetto and everything else and just do the 250 and 1 for a while and see where it goes.

Edit: Also I'm pretty sure minoxidil has been taking away my skin glow as well and giving me circles around my eyes somewhat

Lmao that's a funny way to look at it.
Just took about 1mg of fin (Need to get a pill cutter now). And I feel good already.
Just feel good about the possibility about growing my hair back.

How'd you go? 22 here, hairline has started to significantly recede in the past month or two. Going to hop on fin before it's too late

Been on 0.5 daily for a week now, no sides. 0.5mg blocks 55% of DHT and 1mg 68% so you can consider a lower dose to prevent sides while relatively not losing a lot of effectiveness. Still gonna up to 1mg next week if all continues to go like plan.

Just remember, sides are rare! A lot of people start attributing things they maybe didn't notice earlier to things they just started using. Like the eyes-minoxidil thing you mentioned, 99.9% just BS. This way you start seeing **** everywhere, but 99% there's no connection.

Also DO NOT STOP MINOXIDIL. It's annoying and Fin is superior reward/effort wise but it does help. Been on it for 6 months and while visually I would say it improved slightly, derm took hairs at beginning and end and my condition improved 100%. Forgot what they were measuring, but it went from 22% to 11% to the point I am now under the threshold that they consider problematic.

Start it, make it your routine, stop worrying and don't look back.
