Everyone says 7 because to a lot of people 7 is average for some reason. The misc thinks of 7 as 2 point above average which would make you pretty good looking but irl people who consider themselves average generally rate themselves a 7. It's not that they think they are great looking it's just that they are using the scale differently.

Assuming that if we rated everyone on the planet. The majority of people would be a 5. Making 5 the average?or majority of people are better looking? So 7 is the average.
