I'm flying through "Continuum" (sci-fi back in time travelers from 65 year into our future) atm. Even though I loath the ridiculous female fighting scenes, it still presents an interesting social focus on society and the effects of our ever increasing dependence on technology. Some parts are fascinating, while others a terrifying.

I will check out some of the above other recommendations.

100 and survivors I started. Survivors,in 12 episodes seton England where a virus has wiped,out 99.9% percent of world population. Just started 100. No one lives on earth after nukes. Been on spaceships but the ships,are,running out of oxygen so they send down 100 teens to do recon and see if it's safe.

It's got great multi-season story arcs and great stand alone episodes. Very well written and well acted. I don't think I've ever seen a disappointing episode.

Well the obvious ones are obvious. I just finished the 100 last week though and thought it was awesome. Seems to get some hate from online reviewers (because its not 100% realistic like who cares??) but I would highly recommend it, especially season 2 which is some of the best tv I have seen in awhile.

Another one that I haven't seen talked about a ton on here is Sherlock, absolutely outstanding.

Too much unreasonable grrrl power and too much main characters never getting hurt even when put into absurdly dangerous situations. Way too much suspending belief for ridiculous drama.

You should. Its the mark of a really good production. Besides, there's only so many "allowances" we can make for any show before it becomes a kiddy cartoon.

Not sure if it was mentioned, it may have but if you haven't seen the movie the impossible, it is really good, based on a true story of a family vacation in thailand when a tsunami hits.
9.5/10 is a must watch

I almost watched that last night.

I chose Lila and Eve instead.

it was a slow start but picked up..bodies everywhere.
