Also, you guys don't know anyone who lifts apparently.
When I worked in prison one of my inmate coworkers, office worker, was a 270 pound black guy. He would do 700 pound squats for reps as part of his whole leg routine. He's actually the one that got me into squatting.
Edit: you can easily find people in vids squatting a 1000 pounds for more reps than I said.

ITT some people don't understand the concept of competition and weight classes.... if you're in the super weight division yeah you can just go ham on food but every other class requires you to maintain a certain weight at which point being lean = having more muscle to fill out the weight class

I love power lifting and mostly train for strength but most "powerlifters" who aren't top level competitors are embarrassing. They seem to be either fat asses or skinny ****ing nerds wrapped head to toe in training accessories.

A couple of years ago, this guy Dave Gulledge who is a powerlifter did a cut and looked like this. So power lifters may not look physically appealing on a bulk when when they diet down, they have a lot of quality muscle on them. I remember that started off the whole "train like a powerlifter, diet like a bodybuilder" craze.

Powerlifting is not about looking good, it's about being as strong as possible, not every powerlifter looks like chit though, some powerlifters are actually ripped and look damn good, some female powerlifters are totally yummy
